Dead :(
Well, owned my car last night, no idea how much damage but it's wrecked
Hit a patch of loose gravel on a corner, understeered right into a curb sideways.
Both passanger side rims are busted, they're garbage. Tires are most likely a write off as well.
Passenger front tire is sitting at an angle on the axle, top comes out farther than the bottom.
Also, axel seems to have been pushed back.
If the wheel is supposed to sit in the well like this:
||....( o )....||
It now looks like this:
||..( o )......||
I have no idea about the back, but the strut is blown for sure, front and back. May have more damage in the back too.
At least my wheel gap is gone

Sucks to hear about that man but the same thing happened to me a couple years back. Instead of understeering I oversteered and did a 180, smacking the passenger side dead on and ****** up all sorts of stuff too. Got about $3200 from insurance -$500 deductible and actually came on top so not all is lost yet. You may be able to get it all fixed after all.
What I did was go to the most expensive body shop I know and get an estimate of the damage. Took that with me to insurance and they sent their guy out to inspect. The insurance guy only estimated $200 less than the body shop, but I had meanwhile found a place that would do the work for half the price of the first. So even with the deductible paid out I came out on top by about $700.
See what you can do and maybe post pics of the damage. It might help in figuring out if it's fixable or not. Good luck with everything man, but worse can scenario you can get an insurance payout and get a MSP or somethin instead

I'm thinking the drivetrain/drive axel is bent. May lead to all sorts of problems.
Maybe looking at a write-off/part out, maybe not. Have to get estimates done, already called insurance, they're coming to check it out.
$3200 sounds right.

If only it was the rear that hit. Rear suspension lateral links are like $35 a piece and the trailing link is around $50 I think. all you need to position a rear wheel properly.
The front though.. oh noes. just the lower control arm is needed to position the front, and if it's still intact but moved that much, the front crossmember might be screwed. If you have to get the crossmember dropped during the fixing (hope it isn't a write-off!!), have them install that front MSP sway bar (you did buy some whole kit thing with the bars, right?) while they have it down, save you 6-7 hours of labor costs or days and days of bleeding knuckles.
I'm crossin my fingers hoping for the survival of your car!

I'm already pricing out an MSP as a backup
I know for sure the struts are blown on the passenger side. The car looks like it's lowered with Sportlines+1, haha.
Yeh, I do have all the MSP sways, so that is an option. However, this issue was caused by a bad patch of gravel and understeer, so I don't know if I want the front MSP bar.

Oh, *****. My condolences.
It's likely that no amount of suspension tuning could have saved you from that gravel patch, yo. AWD and/or ESC and rally tires, maybe, but not suspension tuning.
Like Chris said, this may be a blessing in disguise if you can get them to install the MSP bars.
Keep us apprised of the recovery/replacement!

I know! I really do want your car! If insurance writes me off, then it's mine, haha!
D-Rock: awesome stuff, I'll let you know depending on how everything goes on this end.
Josh: True, not much could have been done here I guess. It's the first time I've ever felt the Protege lose control of the road. It's usually so sticky

Dude, I am sorry to hear that. It's like a family member has gone. That's the beauty of cars, especially Mazda's. We have a close bond in that we all enjoy the thrills of the Zoom-Zoom. Hope everything works out alright. I hope you find one. I saw one on Ebay, asking 8000! Blazin Yellow Mica 03.5. Just keep an eye out, they are there. My prayers go out to the families of the tires and wheels.
Aside from all the goofy mess up ^^^ there... I am really am sorry. Keep us posted on the results.
