yeah, I've been kinda hush hush about some new stuff until I get it all worked out.

I've got the new blower in my hands. It's not the final production piece but it's the same size and will allow me to finish the new bracket/tensioner and plumbing. This blower is very nice. I've shown it personally to a few non-protege people and they've all thought it was pretty nice. Jet Tech, the company I'm working with on this doesn't want me posting any pictures of the production process though. They don't want "half-finished" product being shown off. They're very particular about what gets made public. I think I may have already crossed a few bounds. Just take my word for it....it's VERY nice. It'll make a ton of power.

As for the rest of the kit, I'm still working on the new blower bracket/tensioner assembly. I've had to try several different designs to make things work the way I want them to. I think I've got it pretty well figured out though and once i get a little free time I'll be able to finish the mock-up and get everything cast.

Once the molds are SET turn around time is only 1 week. The catch is that we don't want to set the molds until we're 100% sure everything is as refined as we want it to be. It costs me a LOT of money to cast the molds and I've spent so much right now that I can't afford to keep re-doing them. I need to make sure everything is in order before I give him the go-ahead.

The tensioner is my main concern. I had a solid idler ulley used as a tensioner but this put a lot of strain on the blower bearings and crank pulley. We've switched over to a idler / spring-loaded tensioner to create the most belt wrap possible while allowing for the belt to load and unload properly for belt changes. All of this STILL will be done from the top of the engine bay. If I'm not mistaken no part of this blower install will require you to ever jack the car up or get under it (except for removal of the ps loop- and that's just once). Everything can be done with basic handtools standing up in a driveway or garage.

I'm sure I mentioned the change in pipe diameter....it's a DRASTIC change and as such I've kinda played around with the idea of doing funky stuff with it. Anyone ever seen octagonal inlet plumbing? Oval? Square? I can make just about anything I want so I'm trying to think about my options. If I can provide a little fancier product or sharper appearance I want to do that BEFORE I set the molds. The charge piping will be very similar but the size of the inlet plumbing will require me to use the new stuff I've made.

To answer your question Tim, yeah, there's been a lot of progress but I'm wanting to get a little further before I show off anything. Once I get it mounted on the car with the new tensioner I may just throw a few small audio clips or distorted videos online for people to whet their whistles on.

i cant wait either! only problem now is i wont have a built motor and everything like i had planned. too many things going wrong, plus i think i want to buy a raptor 700. i still plan on building it up just not as soon as i hoped.

i also finally got a header! its got a little dent on the bottem, i dont think it'll hurt anything. i'm sending it to jethot by the end of the week.

crap. I'm really wanting someone close by with a forged motor so I can test the limits of this thing. Making power will not be a problem.....handling it will be!

yeah i know. i was really hoping to have a built block. i'm still thinking about it. i just have to wait for a few weeks and check my money situation. i'd love to test the limits and plus if i had problems its only about a 3 hour drive and i'm always in b'ham anyways.

I'm really wanting to pick up a tranny upgrade package from p-garage so I can see how fast I can get a stock block supercharged protege. I think traction/gearing/weight will be crucial.

still working on the final bracket/tensioner design. It's a slow going process since I only get a few hours a week to actually get my hands on it.

I'm under a "non-disclosure" agreement about the current and future design of the blower (T4 and T5 respectively). I'm not allowed to show any pictures of anything until the final product is ready for viewing. This is a stipulation from Jet as they don't want "less than perfect" product being displayed as it may give people the wrong first impression about appearance or quality.

I HAVE however just happened to have it in the car and shown a few local people how it's coming along....they've all been pretty pleased. The mock-up blower I've gotten is a used blower with some leaking issues but they're being repaired and all future blowers will be the brand new T5 design which is going to rock your pants.

I'm hoping to have the bulk of the new assembly finished this week sometime (not sure when my off days are yet). There is nothing saying I can't show you guys the brackets/pulleys/piping just yet so when I get it in order I'll post some pics.

If anyone would like to ask the personal opinion of someone who has seen and held the new blower Anarchistchiken's firend Justin (RedApex) has gone hands on with it already. Maybe he'll post up his opinions.

Damn I hope this is affordable. Now if someone would just offer a reasonably priced piston and rod kit (not billet or anything we don't need!) then we would be set. There is no reason we have to buy billet rods for our motors, it is overly expensive overkill. (Hey that had a cool ring to it )

yeah, why protege parts cost so much is beyond me.

I was shopping around for Focus SC kits and found that most of them are in the $4500 range. 50% more than what I'm planning on offering.

That sounds good. Hell, you can buy a Mustang Powerdyne kit for $1800-$2500.
