I'm looking for a picture of a Protege5 engine with aftermarket Plug Wires. I would like to see what they replace and how it looks.

I keep looking at the electric moduals where the plug prepares to enter the engine and can't think of how to replace the wires, if it replaces that entire piece to make it like the conventional wires, or what.

well, racing beat has some replacements on thier website for the 2001+ miata, which uses a set-up similar to the new 2.0 liter protege engine. i doubt they will fit, but here are the pictures from their page to give you an idea of what they look like:

We fabricated a set of ULTRA wires and installed them on a special project Miata that we were working on. While undertaking a series of dyno tests during a header test session, we conducted some back-to-back testing with the ULTRA and stock wires and noticed a very slight .5-1 HP gain with the ULTRA wires. Now these aren’t the most pavement shaking gains we’ve ever measured, but they were gains nonetheless!"

Why do you suppose Sparko makes the shorty wire so long?

you still have to be able to pull it out to change the plugs. if it was shorter, you probably wouldn't be getting to your plugs with any ease.

i didn't know the stock wires were *that* much shorter. i don't have a 2.0. ;D so i dont get to look at that stuff all the time. my little 1.6 has different wires.. sorry.

Supposedly Sparkco advertised that their wires were 9.2mm, when in fact they were only 9.0mm. Sparcko claims the extra .2mm is the heat protective sleeve. Doesn't seem like a problem to me.
