Exhaust header. Which? Modify?

I hear there are a few enthusiasts here who have installed a bosal header into our proteges. From what I understand they need a bit of modification in order to get them into our cards (I believe its an MX6 header).
I have questions, questions and more questions....
1. Which header, MX6, which year, size, model.. Need exact specs to order.
2. How much midification does it need? EGR needs to be cut in? MX6 have egr in diff spot? I assume it replaces the primary cat. Does it fit right into the seconary cat, or do we have to modify the piping?
ANy info appreciated,, Pics extra welcome....

I'm tired of waiting for someone to have something available. I want it NOW! And I dont want something that keeps the primary cat.. I belive that most of the power is held up in the primary cat, and it needs to GO! I hear someone is making a header, but they are keeping the cat, whats the point of that?

Eric F and your Bosal!!!

Eric the Bosal header will not work on the Pros I found this out tonight. The EGR fitting is not the right size!!!! It is the same thread but it is a smaller diameter so you would still have to have a EGR fitting adapted to the Header. Just thought I would let you know...And if you don't want to spend the 10 bucks for a O2 bung the correct Nut size is 18mm x 1.50 thread

Thanks Craig. I still haven't received the header yet. I need to call Mada Motorsports and find out what the delay is. Do you have the Bosal header? How do you know about the EGR fitting? Does it line up with our EGR tube, or does the tube need to be bent? Could the fitting on the Bosal header be drilled and tapped to accept the larger nut on the EGR tube?

It turns out Mike from Bosal typed in the wrong part number when he checked stock for me. They didn't have any in stock but they did have the parts to make them. They sent them out to be coated, and should have them back tomorrow. Brian from Mazda Motorsports said they ordered two of them, so they should have an extra in stock soon.

The EGR tube is a flare end tube with a nut around it that threads onto the fitting. The actual Fitting is too small a diameter and the nut will not thread onto it. THe threads are the same but not the diameter. I know this cause i bought a Probe header to get the EGR fitting from and found out it wouldn't work. The fitting is at an angle and is solid so you woudl have to cut it off and have another welded in place.

Proof herin that the Bosal Header does work! You just have a couple of small modifications to do.

Those links are really helpful. NC_MP3 is a member here also. I'd like to know some more details about the install. Especially if the headers' collector mates to the stock exhaust systems position, and ball and socket type connection. The EGR pipe doesn't look all that bad. It looks as though you might be able to use a pipe bender to get it to connect to the headers' fitting. I'd also like to know what NC_MP3 did to fit the EGR nut to the fitting on the header that Craig said doesn't fit.

Re: Exhaust header. Which? Modify?

The header is for the '93-'97 Probe/MX-6/626 cars with 2.0L engine. The Bosal part number is 111-252. It would replace the primary cat.
