Best Method to clean MAF

Hi, I've searched my *** off for info about the CAI prop with the 1.6L. I tried pulling out my MAF the other day to clean it with a cutip but it hard to clean it since it so close to the plastic piece. Just for peace of mind, it is the semi-transparant brown bulb shaped thing hanging down right? I was gonna use some windex to clean it but I've other people say alocohol or lens cleaner. Which of those would be best? Thanks, JAke

try cleaning it with brake cleaner, but be careful. It works great, i learn that trick from my uncle, he is a mechanic. Look at the pic below. Also might help if you make a rubber gasket, out of an old bike intertube, to make a nice tight seal for the MAF. if you need any more help let me know.

So how do you get the MAF opened? Is it the 4 little prongs on the top or the side screws?

Neither. Remove MAF from car and look down the inlet path. *Carefully* clean the thin wire - it is as fragile as it looks!

I wouldn't clean it unless i KNEW it needed it (risk/benefit).

I know I'm a dolt because this method still eludes me! The rubber is for the MAF? I need a simota intake!
