Question air intake - tech question

Hello everyone!
been reading a lot on this forum latly and I still have some unanswered questions.

Fist I decided to get a custom intake will cost me about 130 $CAD wish is a lot cheaper then anything I can import from the states and should do a wonderfull job.

I'll list the step I would be undertaking if I had the intake with me and I hope the expert will correct me if I'm wrong.

1. Remove air duct
2 Remove the resonance chamber

this is where I'm confuse
3.
the Air cleaner box has some electrical wire attach to it what do those do? and I believe this wont be necessary anymore because of the K&N Air Filter right!?

4. then should I remove the remaining tube there.. no clue what the name is and fit the intake directly on the TB? or leaving this tupe and connect the intake to it?

Thx for your help!

ummm...stop.

that's your mass air-flow sensor...you also have another sensor that you need...so, stop what you're doing...buy an intake and follow the instructions.

if you were to build your own, you'd use attach your piping on each side of the MAF, drill a hole for the other sensor that you have (i don't know what it's called)...and weld an attactchment for the hose that goes from your intake to your valve-cover...so just buy an intake...because unless you know what you're doing, you can really mess something up.

Topher, your sig's keep getting better and better!

Blacksand. First thing to do....wash under your hood. Second, get on Ebay and buy an intake for your car. Third, MAKE SURE YOU USE THE MAF and IAT SENSOR. You will not be happy with the condition of the car without them.

Not a knock to you but if you don't know what you're doing DONT practice on a multi-thousand dollar car. It's not smart.

The lower sensor it the photo is a tempurature sensor for incoming air. I had it unplugges for a few days, and the car seemed to have more pick-up. Maybe I was lucky?

Wasn't going to make the intake myself, wanted to have it made custom and skip the installation fees.

Glad the 2 bros answered my question quickly however

So if I understood u right the red parts will be removed and that blue one needs to stay!?

Btw the point of the forum is to improve everyone knowledge so everyone can try those little things (replacing intake, filter, sparks plug etc) I won't get any instruction manual with my custom pipe so might as well ask those who know and help those who don't.

So are both IAT and MAF sensor in that 'blue' part!?

thx!

you're partially correct. what you circled in blue is the MAF(mass air flow sensor). The temurature sensor is the wire located directly behind the air box. If you have a new intake made, you can replace all the parts you circled in red, plus the elbow attached to the throttle body.

Black sand, you need to have that engine bay steamcleaned and then start sending me your valve cover and other brackets to be powdercoated. That engine bay is sad and an intake isn't going to cheer it up!!

maybe it look sad but hey! what do I care. I ain't going to run around with the hood open!

thx for the input guys! I'll come back with more question once I'm set on what header and exhaust I want.

Does anyone heard any good from the reactive header and exhaust!? Seem too inexpensive to be true.

shipping

Anyone from Canada or Quebec had it shipped!? What would be the cost of the shipping outside the US and is there any other fees like border tax or something like this!?
