as long as you are creative enough and have the intake adaptor for a cone filter. anything will fit.

just out of my imagination, is there a way to bypass the regular "box" intake for the 91 protege or replace it with one for say from the rx7??

You may not to by-pass the MAF, do not change the MAF of the Pro to the RX7 MAF because I think they has diferent parameter or work diferent.
