Hey man it sounds like you have a bad speedo cable.
Actually 2 bad speedo cables.
I had the transmission flushed a while back and then after that the overdrive and speedo would only work perodically. People were telling me that my tranny was going but it only had 34K miles, so I did some research and come to find out the original cables were of a poor design and had plastic parts, really it is just the lower one I think but the new design does not interchange with the old so you have to buy the upper and lower. I did that installed it. Bam works perfect!!

check it) when you reach under the dash feel for the cable push on the cable till you here a snap. alot of times you think its on there but it really isnt. that was one of the things that was giving me **** to. let me know about you old cluster i e mailed you. peace
