Horn problem

My horn doesn't work anymore. I checked to see if there are fuses for it but htere aren't. I checked the fuse box by the intake, and the one under the dash. None found. Looked through the manual and it doesn't say how to fix a horn. Where is the horn in the 91 dx? can't seem to find it. Also, when i press on the steering wheel, it just makes this click sound near the firewall and pedals. I dont' think the wheel is worn out as well. I rarely use the horn. It just suddenly stopped working one day.

Any ideas?

Please use the search function, this has come up before and there have been in depth discussions. I'm sure you'll find all the info you need.

The horn is behind the front bumper on the driver's side. The clicking you are hearing is the relay. Horns draw a rather significant amount of current and the wiring in the steering column is pretty small, hence the use of a relay. The most likely problem is the horn itself. Check for rust where it mounts in that it may not be making a good ground.

If you hear the clicking then almost definetly your horn switch is working. But if it isn't, the part (horn contact) is only about $8-12 at the dealer, really easy to put in. I think some of our Pro's have a problem with those (mine corroded and started going off on its own!)

get down and pull the horn out.....then get yourself some wire and hook it up directly to the battery...if it scares the **** out of you when you don't expect it to go off and it does...then there is something else wrong..lol

I would be willing to bet you just need a new horn....from what you described hearing...the clicking sound....the electrical supply is working.....just not the horn...

of course the connectors could just be corroded or a lose wire at the horn....just a few things to check .

Hey, when you wired yours, did you make it a seperate switch? If so, where do you get the wires to run it to the battery. Does it need a fuse? My kit came with a relay and some difficult to understand instructions, no wires or anything

heh, i did a bunch of wiring, with the help of connecters/crimping tool from radioshack. I think I did it right... if I run it off an individual switch, one end of the wire is connected to a terminal on the relay and the other end (with the switch in-between?)

And then where did you draw your power? I have an inline fuse thingy, but I don't think I can just wrap it around the battery (+) right? hmmm

That's what I suspect. Just gonna get someone more experienced and with the shop space to check it out.
