Eternal Honking! Pain in the @$$
Ok so this 563 year old lady pulls out in front of me but i dont hit her. but i DO hit my honk, really really really hard. So it was stuck in traffic and im getting stares and rude looks so i reach behind the wheel and pull out a wire. the honking stops. I take it to the car dude to get it unstuck, but apparently i need a new one, and he needs 100 bucks to install it. no way. Does anyone know how hard it is to change the honk tapping thingy in the steering wheel if i get a hold of one from a salvage yard around here?? Also what are some online car junk places incase i cant get a hold of one locally, thanks for any help

while i have never worked on a Protege steering wheel, it's usually just a case of popping off the center cover and a few screws.
So go find one in a yard, as i'm sure you can handle it.
563 year old lady huh....was she driving a big ole Lincoln?? cause if she was, we both almost hit her....

Speaking of horns... my parents old 88 Accord had a horrible record with horns. Honda placed the horn unit in such a great spot that a new horn would corrode before a month was up.... and no it wasn't just the contacts, the splashes that got it got it good! GO HONDA!!! :/ (that car was a complete dud, before we sold it, it broke more than my rx-7)

Horn fix
I had the same problem, but it was intermittent honking at random. It got a lot of people ticked off, as it did it to no one in particular as I wa driving down the road. Anyway, I was able to fix it myself. Take the bolts off the back of the steering wheel (3 of them I think), and then unscrew the metal plate that is the horn pad. Then bend it so it is domed with the center towards you in the driver's seat. That should keep it from engaging all the time. You can just bend it with your hands. If this doesn't work, you can always find one in a salvage yard, but I think this might fix it - the metal pad is just thin so it can be bent the wrong way easily if you mash the horn. Good luck.

misbah...Welcome to our happy little corner of the net. There is a BIG fridge in the corner with just about anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGEALLY have. :{D
make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables....and take it easy.
oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.
Welcome!! :{D
as for your horn....well I am southwest of houston....so in your back yard so to speak...anyway....look up the nearest "pick a part" in your area....good places to shop for used parts.
