Oil change, pain.

Changed my oil today, what a pain in the ***. I had to take the skid plate off to reach the filter. Is that normal? Once I got to the filter, I had to use a large set of pliers to get it off. I think they put it on with an impact wrench. They also did not oil the gasket before wrenching it down. Anywho, I switched it over to Amsoil. Does anyone else use this stuff? I have heard a lot of great things about it. I'll let you know how it does. I drive almost 200 miles a day. So I'll see if the gas milage increases.

If that's the first time the oil was ever changed, yeah, the oil filter comes on tight from the factory.

Haven't heard that you need to take off anything to get to the filter

you need to get completely under the car and reach around the half shaft to get to the filter.

yes i have to jack the car up, but i never have to remove any kind of skid plate to get to it...

A few friends of mine use it, and claim it gives them a bunch more horsepower

Honestly I don't see how it is worth extra money over Mobil 1 or other synthetics...But if you like it, or it is the same price, it is by no means a bad oil...

Now that I have a filter on hand tight, I should not have to remove the skid plate. I could not get any leverage without taking it off.

Oil filter cover!!!!! Walmart sells these cups that go over the filter and your socket wrench attaches directly. You have to be under the car and reaching deep. The regular oil filter removers suck. Get the cap/cup that snugs to the end of the oil filter. Should have lots of torque now

My dad has one but it's to big. I really don't think I will have a problem now.

i did mine today, it was my second change, but first time i got the filter off!, i had to use the hugeest(word?) channel-locks to get it loose, then i got it out no prob.

mobil 1 syn, as last time, with purolator filter

should be smooth filter sailing from here on out!

I changed the oil on my car today instead of taking it in, and found that the oil pan bolt was harder to take off than the filter... i just reached up and removed it by hand...
