Hi,

I am going to tackle the timing belt change within the next few weeks.

Can some one tell me exactly which other parts I should purchase and replace while i have the engine apart??

I have the Haynes manual but are there any special tips or tricks that I should know about, or does any one have any instructions online or anything??!!

It's a good idea to replace all the belts (water pump/alternator and AC/PS) at the same time, since you have to remove them to get to the timing belt.

I've done my '90 LX twice (as well as one friend's twice, and another friend's once). The third time is due soon, and I'll be doing the cam and front seal also (cheap, but a little extra work).

If it was a Honda, I'd be replacing the water pump also, but mine is still running great (no leaks, turns smoothly with no friction), so I see no reason to replace it.

 

The water pump on my uncle's SOHC was a pain to change, I wouldn't mess with it unless yours is leaking or has a lot of miles on it.

 

Wow, it sure is a simple procedure...

It's a lot easier than the 300ZX was - you had to take the whole front of the engine off on that car...

Anyway, there were no leaks on the cam seals and the water pump felt tight so i just did the T belt.
