Changing Timing to get better Mileage?

Hey all, I'm back. I'm still getting junky mileage on my 92lx but a little better. Up from 24 to 26. So I read about changing the timing to improve gas mileage. How do I do this? Are there any instructions somewhere so I can do it accurately? Also, has anyone installed a fuel pressure regulator?
Does the gap on the spark plugs make a difference in our car?

no, no, no, no, and know
peace

edit: actually, spark plug gap can do nothing for you, it's either going to explode the gas & air mixture in your cylinder, or it's not, simple as that. there is a supposed method of making a stronger spark, but in actuality, unless undergoing severe engine modification, is nearly pointless IMHO, and as far as i know, no one has been sucessful in getting an msd control unit to work in our cars, am i right? and either than that, i don't know about fuel pressure regulators. just be happy with your gas mileage, my 94 lx gets 18.86 city as it stands, bout 21 to 22 highway.

i got a 323 w/ 92lx engine first time i drove the car for about a week i was running rich it was so rich that my car was dying on me on the freeway... i advance the timing 2degree, my plug gaps was at .041 so i pre gapped it to .043 i wasn't running rich anymore for 3 weeks and on the freeway my car died again, i check the spark plugs it was white so i said **** ! i was running lean very lean. then i checked the gapped it was at .045 it was way too far so i gapped it to spec which is .044 now its running ok except for my old problem my rough idle....

These cars get great gas milage only when you use 25% of the throttle 95% of the time.

I Wish

<<These cars get great gas milage only when you use 25% of the throttle 95% of the time.>>

I wish this wera as true as it is for cars with variable cam or valve timing. But the protege seems kind of stuck. I've driven a whole tank rarely acceleraring over 2500 rpms and still no better than 26mpg.

So as many fuel economy websites claim has anyone changed their timing resulting in better miles per gallon?

Anyone put in fuel pressure REGULATOR?
