1st gen stock pro running this fast???

back in january i went to sacraceway CMI races...I saw this 1st gen protege LX everything was stock. He just tried it on the track i guess he wanted to see what he'll hit. Anyhow the guy was hitting 16.0 consistent about 3-4 times and i have it on my video.
16.0 flat thats pretty quick. A civic ex can barely hit 16.9 on a quarte mile. A stock civic SI can hit 15.7 or 15.8 stock. I seen this! which means A STOCK ON STOCK RACE PRO WILL BE ABLE TO KEEP UP W/ A CIVIC SI.

this wasn't just one si that i saw running this time there was like 8 or more running this time and the si dont sound stock it sounded like they have perf. intake or somthing cuz their car sounded kinda loud.

just letting y'all know.....

lol i dont know about you, but i knew my pro could beat a civic the first time i drove it. I take pride in my car being able to beat stock to lightly modded civics (you know, the guys that run out to pep boys and buy an intake and cat back system and call them selves racers). The hard core honda fans here stand up for the SI like it was their mother, feels good beating one on the track.

I wouldn't doubt it. Going from driving my 323 all weekend to driving my LX today, it feels like I'm in a rocketship!

I wouldn't say that they are that fast. There's one around here that I've raced several times and he didn't even come close to winning. 240SXSR20DET might've raced him as well.

not really.. the person that RX2nr is referring to is a friend of ours.. he has a 98 civic EX 5-speed with a true CAI, header, and exaust. and we can both still take him.. hell our friends new 2003 lancer 5-speed (all 2700LBS and 127HP) can beat him by about a fender. and yes the guy with the civic does know how to drive..

The ex civic is almost dead even with my car. I raced my cousins 99-00 ex civic a few times and my roomates 93 si delsol ( same motor as the ex civic) and ive never pulled on him. It was just a even race. I dunno about a SI civic those are pretty quick. I think with a good driver u might be able to keep up

I think your buddy's del sol is 125 hp... When the D16 hit the EKs it got 2 more horse. MY buddy has a 96 EX SOHC vtec, it's pretty quick I never raced him though.

I'm not sure, but wasn't the SOHC vtec a trim level for the Ex, kinda like the accord v6.. ?

the pro that i saw was running 16.0 and the civic ex's will run slower than that prolly high 16's. So i think u guys (1st gen pro lx)
can beat a civic ex. i have a 323 and i can em all the time i like to f#@! around w/ them even with the bolt ons that they have. i have raced 4 ex's ever since i did my swap which is about a month ago or so.
I raced a civic ex with headers, intake, full trust exhaust, but he had 17" rims, system and 2 guys on it. Smoke him about 3 cars away and i was still pulling.
This guys had a civic ex with same mods. stock rims, and he was by himself. I dust him about 2 cars on my 3rd gear 5600 rpm only I had to slow down already cuz he could keep up.
i believe my car weighs 2,300 lbs and the pro have 2,800??? im not sure.

O yeah! b4 i did the swap this guy with a ford escort told me that his car is running 15.6 here's wut he have. pace setter headers, intake, 2 degree adv. exhaust, bp motor w/ lx tranny, and it is a escort LX not GT i ask him how heavy is the LX's he said about 2800 lbs.

can he really hit 15'6 on a street tires?
does it really weigh that much?

That sounds pretty heavy for an LX, unless it's the sedan (and it still shouldn't be 2800 lbs). And to run a 15.6, there's no way it runs a 15.6 weighing that much with those mods. It probably weighs between 2300 and 2500, but I dunno.

I've raced 2 different EX's. A new one and the 98. Neither of them pulled on me at any time.

I can totally believe those #s. My 93 GT runs 16.3@84. And that was on ghetto-brand 185/60s. My only mods were a muffler and K&N drop-in. With full exhaust, ignition advance and fatter tires, I'd easily be in the 15s...
