nope. Kia's used it, I think maybe the 96 escort GT used it, and the 2nd gen pro's used it.

the weight diff. between the two cars is pretty negligable, if you look at it year buy year the largest margin is only around 100LBS at the most.. which technically COULD be a 1/10th of a second diff. but thats a fairly general statement

so i ask any of you guys with the 91,92 EGT - did it come with a tubular 'header style' exhaust manifold??? i assume it did because of Braden's post, BUT I have not personally seen a 91 EGT to check.

if so, that's a decent explanation for the horsepower difference; and with the EGT's lighter weight, makes for the quicker car.
I saw one (from I THINK a 94 EGT) for sale on ebay and it DID have the "header style" manifold.
If im not mistaken the 94 pro lx has this type of manifold also.

With mods you can pull lower 15s in scorts, but I think high 15s-low16s is right for the protege stock because of the 4 doors and i think it has different gearing than EGTs, but dont quote me or bitch or yell, cause im not sure on that.
EGT's are rated at 16.5-16.6 in the 1/4 mile. That's what every 1/4 mile time website and every magazine review is saying. I know they're not all lying and I'm pretty sure they know how to drive the car.

those are some of the worst 1/4 mile times ive ever heard of for an escort gt. Could it be that those times where taken from a different altitude or something like that?

Those are the best times I have seen for a STOCK EGT. They don't have advanced timing, exhaust, intake, any of the interior taken out, etc.

Dude, why are you getting so defensive? It's just an opinion. I never said I hate escorts, I'd just rather have a ricey civic over them. Proteges aren't exactly nice looking cars either, they're ugly as hell, the escort is just even uglier. I just looked up what our cars did on the slalom. The Protege LX and EGT came out the same, but the Escort LX came out the worse. I'll change my signature accordingly.

id say (no offense since im on a pro baord here) thats a nice 2nd gen GT scort is like a super model compared to some 2st pros. But either way it makes no difference. They have that nice boxy look to them and the hatch is perfect.

I dunno dude, you ever drive an EGT ? I say don't knock one till you try one. The LX is the ford based one.. I'm not too crazy about them.. that's why I'm here.

Sorry if I came off defensive, I just didn't understand why you would say that...

escorts have that nice boxy look to them and the hatch is perfect! Don't escort GT's and proteges have the same suspension?

Gawd...you are dense.

The thread was closed because you were threatening violence, etc...

(sigh)

At issue, as if to a 5 year old,

YOU stated "...with i/h/e/MAF they run low 15s"

I asked for some evidence...

You can't provide any - for a PROTEGE.

ONE guy posted respecible numbers with his EGT...VERY nice. He also had data to back up his claims. You, OTOH, simply run your mouth (fingers?), and get upset when ppl ask you to back up your claims.

Thanks! Have a GREAT weekend!

ok this is my piece of mind.

the gen2 gts came with the header style manifold on late 95 and then 96 gt's. call ford and tehy have no part number for it. its like its a secret part. LOL

the gen2 escort and the gen1 pro have teh same sytl suspension but as for strut ratings im not sure about that. i do know the escort gt comes witha bit bigger rear sway bar then the lx or pony.

the gen1 pro is alot like the gen2 lx four door hatch they are about the same look. but the hatch back style of the 2dr is more for me. when i see a 4dr pimped out is is great to see be it honda, mazda, ford, dodge doesn't matter. you lower a sedan 1 inch it looks like 2. they just look nicer faster then the 2dr. now remeber i'm a 2dr driver here.

Darin i think you speek of my 15.5 if so i thank you. i am a person who will ask for proof also tho cause so many people claim so much. most of those people can't back it up. scortadict you also have a great stock time. when i ran my 15.5 i thought of you first cause til then you where the fastest.

in closing i believe that driver skill is also a large part of this agruement but is being overlooked. im not claiming to be a pro but i know my car and i can handle it well. i know that applies to all of us.
