Magnacore Plug Wires...

Magnacore wires any good"?? Are they worth the money??
$46.00

CUz I just tried to remove my #4 wire from the spark plug the other day and it ripped off.. NGK Wires... I wasn't even at home.. Had to have a friend bring me my old set of wires.. So it is kinda mismatched now.. Gotta get new ones..

Also....

Are there any aftermarket Dist. Caps, rotors etc.. and Are they even needed or will stock work fine??

Magnacore wires are pretty good. Probably the best made, but I doubt you'd see any performance improvement over the NGK (blue) wire. And plug wires should be considered regular 60k tune-up part (along with belts, cap & rotor, and all the fun gaskets (distributor, valve cover, etc).

And the OEM cap and rotor are the best I've found in my many times changing things. As are the belts, but as long as you get a true V-belt for the alternator/water pump pulley, you should be fine (those bottom cog ones tend to roll over, stretch, and then fall off at high rpm).

Cool MagnaCore wires or What?

Hey dude... I have a 1991 Protege Dx (now dubbed Dx-R due to all my mods) I have done quite a bit of research per what ignition wires to use on my 1.8SOHC, and I arrived at last in the arena of Jacobs Electronics Ltd.

These 8.5mm silicon core wires breath well with only 200 ohms/ft of resistance! Awsome readings. I gapped my plugs at 70 thou. and it ran like a top, I went up to 80 thou. and it was showing no signs of miss yet! (STOCK IGNITION!)

The addition after a retreat to 75 thousands gap of the Jacobs FC-1000 Fire Control analog multispark ignition system was one of the single most wild improvements I did at the start. (a friend has a 1991 Protege GT with almost the same mods as mine, and he still can't shake me.)

Stock ignition system puts out only 16mj of spark per combustion event. The FC-1000 puts out a wopping 683mj over 20 degrees of crank rotation... translation NO VOLTAGE LOSS AT HIGHER BUTT KICKIN' RPMS.

Other info about my ride:

2.25" Exhaust with dynomax 2 chamber muffler and hi-flow resonator.

Twin cold air intakes based on stock air box (flow rates very good)

K&N air filter

Remapped CPU for higher performance (Very neglagable MPG loss)

and more!

(Top secret ... for now)

HEY !!!!! I was going to post that just now !!!!

I was checking the cables on the Protege that I just bought this week and the plug ripped off !!!

Now I have been riding on 3 cylinders... I know that is not good... but HOW bad it is to drive missing a cylinder ???

I will be able to buy one only saturday....

Not Very Good!!

I don't think it is very good to drive around with a missing plug wire.. I believe that you will blow out the rest of your plugs and maybe screw something else up..

My car barely made it to the gas staion about a mile away from where I was ( I wasn't at home).. From there I called my g/f and had her bring me my old set of wires.. I saved them just in case.. So now I got 3 Blues, and 1 Red... Gotta get new ones soon...

I went to the dealer this morning and bought spark plugs wire set (blues ones made by NGK) and spark plugs.

I loved the mazda dealer... man... it beats the Ford dealers easily...

I installed the cables already.... lifted the car and just discovered that my CV Boot on the left side was GONE !! Serious... there is NOTHING there !!

I'll have to buy now a left Axis to put on that side.... strnage is.. I could not tell the thing was broking before I seen it...

Anyway.. I'll be posting questions about the price of the rebuilt Axis...

P.S. I love the way the Mazda drives !!! Geeez... it is quick !!!!
