I'm interested in getting some new tires for my Mazda3 hatch. Anybody have any suggestions on brands? I want something good that for all seasons that will last. And what sizes could I possibly go with on my 17x7 rim?

How about the Kumho Ecsta ASX?

Hi Rishie,

I just bought a 2002 protege sedan ES GT and I need a set of new tires. The OE 195/50/16 are hard to find, crapy and too expensive for what I am getting. I visited 3 Mazda dealerships and got 3 different reponses as to whether or not I can fit 205/50 tires on the OE 16' wheels without messing up the ABS or anything else (the speedo will be off but that's ok) . Any idea?

Mr. deckedout, I'm interested in what had to be done to not rub. I've run 17,7 +40 wheels with 215/40/17, not lowered and when having passengers in the rear, would rub badly. So this would be cool to know. Did you roll your fenders? What kind of tires are you running? I had kumho 712's on the wheels I was running. Do you have the 712 or 711?

did 8" ET50 work? Im planning of getting my FD3s 8*16 ET 50 wheels on my MP5 with a set of falken azensis 215/45-16 but dont want to get the tires monted before knowing if it fits.

Guys I apologize for not being here at this board. I could barely attend to the other board. I will be returning shortly in my spare time to help with fitments. Unfortunately the FD wheels did not work up front. It was too close and due to tire flex issues can become a problem with coilovers. I will need to test fit again with tokicos now. I will do that shortly here.

.. ok i didnt really understand the receipt but if u will answer my questio ni have a 1994 mazda protege sedan non wagon kind im looking to put 16x7 +42 offset motegi racing rims on it and the tires 205/40/16 brand unkown doesnt matter to me and i was wondering while my suspension be in my way or will i have rub issues??? plaz help me -- thx in advance Felix

7.5*17" ET 35 to ET40 with 205/40-17 works without any problems so you will be fine.

I'm screwed?

Made the mistake of buying rims online, got em home, and naturally the lug pattern is 100 instead of 114(P5). I know a few people who have done lug spacers to change the lug diameter, but it does add an inch to the brake face, and and the offset needs to come up a bit. It's at 35 right now, which isn't enough. Would it be stupid to do this? all other dimensions appear to be on course to work according to your diagrams (215/45/r17). Shall I sell and start over? I'd love to use what I got.

I think that with a 215/17, you'll need at least a +45 offset.

Are the rims 7.5 or 7" wide?

unless you use longer wheels studs you're holding your wheels on with less material. That's one. Secondly when you push the wheels out you throw off suspension dynamics. Also this can put excess strain on axles and other driveline pieces.
