I have a way different approach to wheels. I actually think the P5 rides a bit too rough for my pothole-infested roads so I'm going to downsize to a 15"x6.6 wheel with 205/55 tires.

Is a 40mm offset sufficient for clearance?

Im a new guy to this site.. So sory if this has been asked before....I would like to put the new Falken Torque 5 wheels, 18" by 7" and running a 215/35/18 Yoko Parada Spec 2 Tire.. I also want to lower my P5 with springs or coilovers.. I was just woundering if they will fit if i will have any rubbing problems. and how low i can go for the springs/coilovers...

Any help would be great!!!!

I am looking at buying a 2002 LX Sedan and would like to put these rims on it with a 205/45/17.

The offset is +40 so according to the guide they should work fine with a 205/40/17 but can I use a 45 series for a little more cushion without rubbing? ( I know there will be 2.5% speedo error)

Also I noticed most rims sites don't seem to know there is a difference with the ES & P5 5x114 vs the LX/DX 4x100 and most rim searchs give me rims that are 5 lug but say they work on a 02 LX. (Just like the one above)

Is there a simple conversion to the 5x114? Can I just use the rotors off a ES or 626?

For some unknown reason, the P5 and the ES (the 5 bolt hubs maybe???) have a narrower front track than the DX/LX version, it's right in the brochure at the dealer. Go figure. This would explain the offset differences between models.

From what I have been reading about a size 205/45/17 tire on a 17X7 +40 offset wheel is that they will fit a sedan without rubbing if the car is not lowered. If the car is lowered, then spacers (about 3/16" or 5mm) are needed. Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong.....

I am also pretty sure that Dialup has 205/45/17 Kuhmo Ecsta 712 Tires on his 17" Konig Monsoon Wheels which have a +40 offset. His car has an eibach lowering kit on it and uses spacers to prevent rubbing.

Hope that helps...and someone please back me up

As for the rotor change...IMO stick with the 4 lug that's already on your car.

will 2mm difference in offset make much difference? Im looking at a set of Racing hart type CR 17" offset is 40mm.

I'm running 17/7 ADR Battle EXEs w/40mm offset carrying Goodyear F1 GS-D3s on my P5. No problems at stock ride height. Plan to drop in Eibach Pros with 1.2 F, 1.4 R drop.

I don't load the ride like a cattle truck, so I may be able to get away with no rubbing. We'll see... :D

What's your current wheel/tire size combo? Are you going to lower the car?

The 215/35/19 is 1.67" taller than stock 195/50/16. The combo you're running now is .4" shorter than stock. Not only will you probably have to roll the hell out of the fenders when you lower the car if you go with 19s, but you're going to have a 5.2% error in speedo readings compared to stock and you're going to lose quickness.

At 75 mph, the clock will read about 69.5 as the wheels will be turning 42 fewer revs per/mi than stock.

Take a look at the 18" wheels with a tire combo as close as possible to the original 195/50/16--23.68" in diameter. And watch the offset--40mm is pushing it with 17" wheels which I have on the '5.

Check the Archives for Rishie's wheel/tire guide. While there may be some exceptions, as mine is, the majority of his recommendations hold. :)
