oh wow, if you've already got an intake and a header you will see big gains...even more if you add the AEM ecu in the future.

Like I posted earlier Crower is estimating a 20% gain with intake and header so if you're making 120hp now....expect about 24-25hp...you'd be around 150hp or so.

So the cams will and intake will add 24-25 more HP in addition to the amount whatever the header adds?

ok, not a complete thought there, but I think I can interpret.

The cams on a STOCK motor should make 10-15% more power. With an intake and header (good exhaust flow) should make about 20% more power than stock and with the AEM should make between 25-30% more power.

This is just on the STAGE 2 NA cams...wait until you see what the RACE NA cams will do with a little higher compression and the AEM to conrol rev limit!

definitely interested...i probably would even do the high compression pistons now just for ***** and giggles

You have dyno numbers?

If you are looking at upping the compression let me know. I can set you up with a piston/rod package for the job and possibly a complete package to get the most out of your P5...

piston/rods...forged and 10.7:1cr
AEM ecu
header/exhaust (already done by you)
RACE NA cams (same price as stage 2)
intake (already have)

All you would need then would be 100 octane and you'd be above 200whp. Not bad huh?!? Let me know if you want to work out a package deal.

Are the RACE cams safe for daily drivers? What kind of pistons/rods package could you set me up with?

I will clarify as some good points are being brought up.

First off, I know nothing about these cams in a 1.6L motor....can't help there. Someone mentioned to me that the 2.0L cams into the 1.8L motor was a common swap...so I assume they fit.

Secondly, The piston/rod combo we offer is for forged pistons (your choice of cr) and forged pauter rods. Prices will be discussed with serious buyers. As of right now though a built forged shortblock can be had for $2100 and it will hold anything you can throw at it.

Third, The cam profiles were designed by Wagner Motorsports and then a complete stock P5 head was sent to Crower Cams in California for testing and flow benching. Crower kept the head an extra 3 weeks to verify and ensure everything was up to spec. They also requested a stock valve cover just to make sure clearances were o.k. The Stage 2 cams are designed for stock valve train. The RACE cams are designed for cars with raised compression and our titanium spring/retainer set that will be released the same time the race cams are ready.

Valve float is not an issue at all with the Stage 2 cams and even less of a problem with the RACE cams with new springs. Think of this as buying a product from Crower. They really are 70% crower...the R&D was done by Wagner though.

I am an AEM dealer and I did not see a listing for the Protege or P5 on my list. What part number are you using for these cars? Ours is a 2002.

Like I said to you (Matty) in PM, I'll wait and see what happens with the cams. I want to be sure that these cams, either the Stage II or Race, will be compatible with my car. That includes along with the ECU, cam gears etc. As far as the piston and rod set, I just wanted to know if any will be available for the 1.6. Because if I decide to stay N/A, then this is something I would definately look into getting. However, I hear that if I decide to go F/I then it would be wise to upgrade the car internals. So when you or whoever finds out more about the cams or piston/rod package, please get back to me with all the details. Thanks a much.

Phantom...are you asking what part number we're using for the ECU?? You won't find it anywhere. It's a standard AEM block with custom mapping made specifically for the protege. This was not a project AEM wanted to officially undertake so they just sold the basic equipment to Wagner and let them do the rest. You'd ahve to speak with Nick at Wagner for more info.

Steve, Due to the amount of interest in these products and with all of the stuff i currently have going on I'm not going to be able to spend anymore time cross referencing parts to see what will fit on different models. I am only going to market these products for the 2.0L motor. If you want to research it and find out it works then you may order also. I just will not promise it will work on anything other than the 2.0L.

how would we go about paying for the cams if we did decide to get them? i just got my tax return in the mail so i might have some cash to burn. i also really would like to see the dyno chart before i decide to put money on these cams.

dyno charts should be posted by the 20th at the latest. The guys who are doing this did not receive their dyno for their new shop yet so they are still having to get dyno time in another shop across town.

Payment will probably be made to me and core-refund charge will be sent from Wagner. I accept paypal and credit cards with a 3% CC fee.
