How diffucult is it to swap the auto trans on a 1.8 SOHC to a 5 speed? what parts do I need off the donor car besides the obvious (clutch, tranny, shifter, etc...)?

 

my advice is to seek out a pre-existing 5sp vehicle.

 

id suggest the same thing, swap all your parts that u upgraded into a 5spd pro. but id suggest you get a 5spd LX with DOHC. But if u cant find one you like, u could always do the DOHC swap for the auto. Be a helluva lot quicker then the Single
i have the 5spd SOHC....great economy engine with good gas millege. but Dohc has the power.

if you ever want to swap the tranny out, you might as well change out the engine (DOHC) also... it's just as much work

 

swapping will cost just as much as a existing 5spd =P jus buy one
