from sohc auto to dohc auto?

from sohc auto to dohc auto?
is it possible to use a sohc tranny with a dohc engine? i wanting to get rid of this extra engine i have to this guy i know but he has a sohc auto but he does not want to swap out his tranny can it work? i heard it's possible. thanks
