Going to pick up my P5 today.

Well, this will be my first post here. I've been reading up for a couple of days trying to get my knowledge up a bit. As the title says, I'm going to be picking up my 03 Laser Blue Mica P5 from the dealership in about 16 hours. Before this I've had an 88 Mustang GT with about 400 horsepower, which I still have, and a 00 Celica GT-S which I just got rid of mainly because the payments and insurance were too high. All that's gotta be done tomorrow is paperwork signing. I got the car for 17,100 with 0% APR for 60 months. Sounds good to me.

My girlfriend's already harrassing me about how it looks like "a soccer mom's car" and how I'm not allowed to spend any money on mods. But that isn't going to last very long. I'm so used to using short shifters, as I've had them on every car I've owned, so I believe that'll have to be my first mod. The stock shifter just felt really loose and long to me. I'm definitely going to have to get the Kartboy bushings, but as for the shifter itself, I'm not too sure yet. I just can't wait for my tax return to come. Then it's goody time. After that, progressively, it'll be (real) coilovers, wheels and tires, intake, exhaust, and maybe a bit down the road I'll bolt on some FI. Just to get myself back up to the speed par I used to be at.

I found this corner of the net through www.speed-society.com and this seems like a really good place, so I'm hoping to be utilizing it a lot more.

Hmm...I thought the stock shifter felt very taught and precise, compared to my 240sx. Hmm...maybe I'll have to look into a shortshifter afterall

I'm starting to get used to the shifter a bit more. It still does feel somewhat loose to me. I'm still somewhat stuck on which SS to get though. I had a TWM on my Celica and loved it. But I might go with the Kartboy just because I can save a bunch and get the bushings at the same time. Plus I have my birthday coming up pretty soon so I know what to tell my grandmother to get me.

First impressions are that the car is very comfortable to drive. I've put about 50 or 60 miles on it already, and it feels very sturdy. It's been a little slick outside and I'm still breaking in the engine so I don't wanna go *****-to-the-wall yet with the car. I love it though. My friend wants one too, but he's gonna wait till he can find a used one at a more affordable price. I still gotta take the stupid dealer sticker off, and the plate frames, but that will all be done tomorrow.
