The New Pick

I have been looking into a new car because the pro that i have now is wrecked and i do not want to fix it ( easier to just buy a new cheap car.) Well here are the cars that i have been thinking of.

91 Protege LX
AWD Protege
93 & later Miata

It does not matter about the engine because they all will have the turbo bp.

Can you guys help we by telling pros and cons of the cars. I can do all the research that i want but i need to talk to the real drivers

Miata is a great choice, but if you're looking for a practical car, it's not really the best choice.... Winter driving? Miata bad... Overall best performer out of those cars.

4wd protege? Somewhat rare... good for incliment weather, practical... Weak tranny (in terms of boost potential).

LX... I think the best OVERALL car listed... Great handling, quick, practical, right out of the box! Drop a turbo on the BP =

I'd go for the Pro LX or Miata... Depending on your budget and practicality requirements.

Pros and cons

I can definitly give you the pro's and the con's of the miata, as I looked for one when looking to buy my Stealth.

Pro's:
FUN to drive.
Convertable
Good on gas
A good amount of power for a 4cyl
PLENTY of aftermarket parts. Strap a turbo on in, and you'll fly. (mossmotors.com)
Reliable and long life

Cons:
Not practical AT ALL
RWD + snow = DEATH!!!
Pop-ups get in line of sight at night
Top folds down, and makes the rear plastic window fold on top of it self. Doing this enough times makes the rear back window crack, and eventualy, you will need a new back window.

The miata will be a little more costly in the long run, out of all of the three cars, but in my opinion, it is the best looking. They are still great looking cars when mesured up to todays standars, and they capture the retro look that is currently in style. I don't know to much about the other two, but I love miata's.

Its practical enough, might not be a family car, but thats not what hes lookin for... as for the snow, throw some sand, salt, or bricks in the back....

i think that i know what i am going to do. go with the miata. then save up some money and then do the 302 5.0liter v8 engine swap.

i have been looking them up all day and i think that would be a great car to have.

sick...

Thats a sick modification. I've never seen one in person, but I have her about them. Suposivly, they FLY! Plus, the 5.0 is a good engine. Good luck with that. It'll kick *** if you decided to go with it.

It would be awesome to have a twin turbo setup on the 302 swap. :onders::

That is, if there is enough room for it

I'd probably go FM turbo too, just because I get my jollies to BOV's and spool whines.

Yeah, I would never replace a Rotary engine with ANYTHING. That's like trading your R7 in for a harley...

hey now, thats an insult to a lot of die hard harley dogs man, watch what you're sayin. personally, the miata is a great ******* car to drive, and they do have a little trunk room, but not much room for more than a single 10, a duffle bag and a sleeping bag. they're small, sporty, and yes, rear wheel drive. bags of sand do work wonders in the snow in a rear wheel drive car, but it's not a solution. you're in where, missouri? do you guys get really tough winters any way? aside from that, a miata is already a ball-kickin ride to begin with and you can get that stock, you can't get an all wheel drive jspec gtx here in the state, you have to build it, so look at it this way, do you want a little work and be happy, or do you want a lot of work and have a real good reason to be proud of your self. the sword cuts both ways, eitherway, it would be really ****** fun to drive.
peace

I wasn't saying there's anything bad about harley's...what I was saying is they're different sides of the road...

Just like there's nothing wrong with the 302...just as long as it's not in your former rotary car

in missouri the winters are not all that bad but when we do get snow it never stops. this past winter we had at one point like 2 feet of snow but then for the most put it is not that bad.

the miata if i purchase it would not be stock for lond every thing would go. rear end, engine, transmission, new drive shaft.

the awd pro i would do the same. all new everything

i don't know what to do! the awd would be great when fixed up but the miata would be great when i first buy it. hold on here is the big question.

HOW SHORT DO YOU HAVE TO BE TO FIT INSIDE OF MIATA?

i am not all that short so the could be the deciding factor.
