Talking racing on 76

Blue

I was driving on 76 going toward philly, and about five minutes into merging on to 76 from harrisburg, I pass this hundai sonata. The only thing is that as I pass him, he speeds up so that I can't get back into the right lane!! He does this a couple times until I decided to give him a run for his money. Looking at the car it seemed like he just purchased it cuz it was bone stock! We finally get passed 100mph when I fully convince myself that this guy just wants to race and I should just blow the cheap bastard away. My girl(which was starring at the guy like he had a problem) got fed up and told me to floor it...and I did. We got up to 130 and the guy stayed right on my tail but he couldn't pass.
Suddenly I hear this really big just growl getting louder and louder. As if it was getting bigger but it really was just getting closer. I looked in the rear view mirrow and some old *** car (kinda like the one from fast and the furious) just blew by both of us as if we were still. He actually made the hazard lane into a third lane to get around the hundai. I felt kinda bad and ever since I have wanted the DOHC engine w/ the turbo cuz I don't wanna get competition from hundai's.
later on I caught up w/ the old car but then he met up w/ a corvette and they just kinda dissapeared!!! oh well, maybe tomorrow I will get in another little race since i'm going back down to philly!!!!!!!!!!

Hrm, 130mph on a road with traffic. Even if you did, that was probably a really dumb decision, go to a track.

umm you must have atleast a first gen with some decent mods but yes, inquiring minds want to know?

although, i have never seen a Hyundai hit 130mph, i did have this little KIA try me one time. I admittedly played with him, but he made it to 110mph until i felt it was enough and pushed it Mind you this was on an open frwy stretch late at night....

The new Sonata can be had with a V6 and automatic, and the car isn't that heavy. That should get it up pretty close without a speed limiter.

I never said they weren't, I hit the governer at 132 in my 01 ES before....but the fact that he was going 130mph on a road with traffic is DUMB

I have a 2001 MP3 and I have had mine up to 120+ but at that speed there is no punching it...lol...It is punched unless you have some serious mods. I think that my car could hit that 140mph mark if I had the right mods on it and if it doesn't have a rev limiter. I know one thing for sure, if anyone ever wants to race a 92-93 model Accord...Go for it because they only get to 115mph before they cut out(rev limiter). That was my old car and I was not impressed when that stupid rev limiter kicked in, kinda pissed off really. As far as being dumb...well, yes it is dumb to go that fast when traffic is present, but if you do it at night with little or no traffic on the interstate then it is not too bad. Still not good for you if you blow a tire, but if that is a risk you are willing to take than so be it, after all you only live once, Right? However I would rather take that plunge in a car that was a little faster than a Protege. Just my 2cents

i think you may be thinking of speed govener, not rev limiter. the rev limiter only kills the engine at a certain rpm to save the engine from damage, the speed govener will kill the engine at a certain speed.

Talking sorry bout the wait!

I forgot that I posted something in this section!!!!!!

Anywayz.... I was on the way to philly from harrisburg which is mainly all down hill therefore I know that helped!!! I hit 130 but it wasn't for too long. In fact it was a long straight down hill section of 76 that I got going that fast. I know it was dumb but the other guy w/ the older car was much dumber than I was in the end.
I usually get up there but I wouldn't consider going that fast again. I think it was just the fact that it was a Hundai and I couldn't lose to one.

I also notice that my car ran alot smoother when I past 110mph.... HMMMMMMMM i'm still confused why....oh wellBlue

Well...The engine doesn't shut off or anything it just pushes the tack back to a certain rpm range and then goes back to normal until it reaches that rpm range again. Rev limiter or governer? Probably governer, I know that my Coke truck has a governer but it doesn't kick the rpm's back like my Honda did, It just won't let you go past a certain rpm. Whatever :P
