ok, just had to join in (pro vs. jag, pro vs. saturn)

ok, just got a new mid cycle Pro from the local dealer about two weeks ago. As its my first new car EVER! (woo hoo) I don't really plan on voiding any warranties just yet, but had to share my first mini racing experiences with it. Mind you, I didn't buy the car to race (cmon guys), just to handle well on the twisties and look good doing it. but I have an idea of who I can take with the car now.

race 1- Ok, I live about three minutes from the blue ridge parkway which might be one of the best roads ever to throw your car around some turns (or FLY off em if you don't, and watch out for crotchrockets). I didn't really get to test the handling as much as I'd liked when testing the car, so this was my first test with it on an actual good road. This was my second week with the car so I had a pretty good feel for what I could expect from it. My girl and I were cruising, enjoying the scenery, tunes and turns when all of a sudden this older guy(40's?) in a white jaguar (yes jag) comes right up behind me and tails me for just enough for me to get pissed, and he kept doing it. I don't really follow jags, but it was one of the bigger ones and newer with the curves on the hood above the headlights kinda like on the older tib's. (big yes, but at least a v6 im sure). This was on a straightaway that he did this and I know why b/c he tried it on every straight. We were just coming up to some major twisties and I figured I'd see if he could hang like he thought he could (we were going gradually downhill too, coming off the NC ridges, which im sure helped me oh wait, i mean . So anyways, I don't know if he thought his tank could hang or not but it took me about three or four turns (~60 mph) until I didn't see him for the rest of the day. I thought it was funny that he thought his car would go around turns . Not much of a race, but funny nonetheless.

The other one was when my girl was driving. I had to get the SA because she doesn't know how to drive a stick
but I still wanted some semblance of changing gears. So we're on a sideroad out of downtown which has a few blinking yellow lights after the first red light and a few curves, no traffic and two lanes both directions. We were just coming home from a fairly late night when this mid 90's saturn sedan (sorry guys not good on my saturn models either) pulls up to us. He didn't sound like he was too in to mods but he did have tints, some kind of a fart muffler, 17's and gratuitous lighting. We proceeded to hear a couple of farts from his general direction and I told my girl that it looked like she was racing. She had been half learning how to drive a stick with the sport tranny so I figured she'd put up a pretty good fight. Well, the light turns green and we proceed to launch pretty good (i would have done better of course ) and he got off pretty well too. He pulled pretty good in first gear, with the front of our car about with his doors, but when we got into second (the sport's best gear), we started to walk him and by the time we were in fourth, I could see him out the back window. It was fun and I know my car is no demon and he didn't seem like a great driver either. But I was proud of both it, and my super hotty girl.

Not sure which Jag it was XJ, XK, or S. If it was not that old and or was in good shape the Jaguar would win. Mayby he didn't want to push his brakes or he doen's care because he has a Jag and you have a POS. now if he had a bently you'd be luky to be a live.

Yeah... I have an 87 XJ12 (canadian vrs.) and I hate to say it but Jags kik @ss. They may look bid and slow but they are just as nimble and usually much faster than Pros. Not that I have anything against Pros.... I mean... hell..... I am building a BPT monster right now. But My 87 XJ12 will out accelerate and handle both my Probe GT and my Pro. Jags are very finely built machines, they are a bithch to work on (putting a custom set of headers and a cat-back took much longer than anything else I have ever put exhausts on) but they are more than worth it.
