Lol..your funny. Thats highly unlikely. How many civics do you know making over 300 hp N/A? Im not saying its not possible. You seem to be putting words into my mouth, and turning this debate into something other than what it started out as. Your cluless comments that continue verify my point...

Whos living in the muscle car era? what does the muscle car era even have to do with this converstaion at all? Nothing, thats what. Why dont you pull your head out.... I have probably spent more time at the track than you have. I used to race my car at the track. Have you?

Nobodys denying that the import scene is very popular and there are some fast imports. I dont know where you think I said that, because I never did. If you dont think mustangs in general are superior street racers than imports, which is what I believe I made some reference to (without reading this entire thread to even know how your tangent started), than you are really more clueless than I thought.

Like I said, I'm tired of talking about this on the internet. It's point less. Lets just forget about it and move on.

BTW, like B8turbo said, I'm not tryin to make enemies.

I apologize if I offended you.

Well, if thats your idea of fun, but to me you would sound pretty stupid saying something like that.

I always believed in the idea of if you want a fast car build a fast car. A mustang gt or higher is a nice fast car. I dunno about the v6s but im sure they can be made fast just like a protege. Mustangs and other "muscle cars" are great. I just hate the fact that most of them are v6s...

tell him if he wanted a fast car, he should have bought an rx-7, not a stang

I browsedon the rx-7 forums a lot, and everyone with a 3rd gen with the 3 most basic mods (I think it was inpipe, downpipe, and something else) would own every mustang out there

well, first off, thats not true. there are some VERY fast mustangs out there, and second off, the 3rd gen. RX7 is an expensive car to buy. a mustang can be had cheap and made fast relatively cheap, thus thier popularity.

I guess I have something in common with Mach I because I too traded in a Mustang (a 5.0l V-8) for my Protege. Sometimes I miss it...I could do 14s stock (it was a convertible) instead of the lowly 16.8 I ran in my P5 stock! Can you believe it? A ricer chick drag racing her 4-banger import

But times change, people change and sometimes you need a back seat and some doors. I had my eye on the P5 for quite a while before finally bringing one home.

I've taken my car on the High Speed Touring track and hope to have it out at the Auto-X this season too. It is a great handling little car, it just needs a little more 'go'!

OH, and BTW, my turbo Focus would kick the crap out of my 5.0l Mustang. Sad, but true! The last dyno for our Focus said 219fwhp and 255tq It truly is a little monster.

I'm done rambling for now...but I'm gonna have to repeat what has already been said:

Pull your head out of your *** and get to the track so that you can see what kind of numbers these cars are really putting down these days! You'd be surprised!!!!

Well to bring a little bit of a different angle....

I am 17. When I was buying a car I had narrowed it down to a used Camaro or a brand new Protege.

Camaro:
I would get lots of straight-line speed, lower-than-average reliability, high insurance premiums, low gas mileage, so-so handling and of course the thrill of bolting a few things onto my motor and being able to beat mostly all other mildly modified cars in my area.

Protege:
Slow (remember, it wasn't intended to be fast). excellent reliability, OK insurance, good gas mileage, out-of-its-class handling, and good looking. Also, it'd be NEW, so I would know EXACTLY what kind of beating it has undergone.

So I decided that the thrill of the Camaro would wear off pretty quickly. Straight line racing is fun for a while, but after many a night in my dad's faster-than-hell Maxima, it got boring. I went with the Protege because the overall package was much better.

I know I'm comparing apples to oranges, but my point is, everybody is in a different situation and everybody has their preferences. I'd never buy a muscle car, it's just not my thing. But then there's those people that would never buy an import.

Ad nauseam

I just wanted to say, I wish I knew somebody who had a 1/4 mile strip on their land. That's awesome.

And I think about the must vs pro thing:
there is the possiblity to make proteges fast, fast as many mustangs can go, with a lot of work. With that same amount of work though, I bet the Mustang can go ZOOOOOMINGLY fast.

Like, a graph for potential / cylinders

Well not exactly to scale butyou get the point. We can make 4cyls that hang with 8,, but it requires a lot of work.

My head is right here, thank you.

Here's where it all went to hell for you, Mach 1:

Wow, how depressing. I just sold my 12 second mustang and bought a Protege ES, and now im reading about 17 and 19 second ricers racing each other and about how one is a sleeper?

newsflash...all 4 cylinder cars are sleepers..

ok, I think Ill leave now. This Mazda site shouldnt even have a "racing" section"......
It's not my ******* problem that you sold your Mustang and bought a Protege. I did the exact same thing and I don't whine about it.

I'm not a 17-19 second ricer, I am a 16 second girlie racer Get it straight.

My Focus is quite the sleeper...V8s don't know what hit em...and no, we don't use NITROUS.

You said we shouldn't have a racing section...why? Are you scared? We race everything, all the time. Hell, I'll even race you in my Grandma's Buick. How would you like a swift kick in the *** by a V6 Century with plush velour seats?

We don't all drag race, some of us are into autocross and high speed touring. Turning is as fun as ***** out speed!

Oh yeah, maybe you SHOULD leave.

Thanks for playing!
