get the header and if noise is an issue just have someone weld in another resonator. The gains are VERY worth it.

If your car is a manual you may also be interested in having your ECU re-flashed to MP3specs. Im getting a GB together for this here real soon. With intake, header, exhaust it would be a decent gain for the money.

Not too pull away from the thread but what exactly are the advantages of flashing to MP3 specs? IS this just for boosted cars, I'm confused.

It gives you more HP based on the ECU alone. The 2001 Protege MP3 came with 145 HP and the difference from the regular Proteges is simply the ECU. However, it only works with 5-speed Proteges and requires you to use 91+ octane.

Boosted Proteges normally use the 2003/2003.5 MSP ECU cuz that's a whole different configuration yet that is meant for turbo applications.

oh i know this is old, but no the stock hangers work just fine for me.
