My Vivid Yellow 2002 P5

Hi all

Here is a quick shot of my 2002 VY P5. I am pretty much done the detailing and the only thing left is some stuff in the engine compartment. I'm thinking of painting the valve cover red after seeing that tread. I am also planning on lowering with some springs in the future.

I am also trying to finish off my web page so that I can post the rest of the pics and not have to swamp the board.

Photo was just taken this past weekend, Sept. 7, 2002, in Red Deer Alberta following the Regional meet.

your grill looks 'finished' now that you've done the top and bottom one!

The finish looks very nice, but I think red does not do it for me. I think it contradicts your interior. I would leave it black, or match it to the rest of the car. IMO

Thanks Jason. I had to repaint that bottom grill as when I sprayed the top grill it didn't macth. I did not like the last red anyway as it was too dark. Took me 4 - 5 hours to strip the paint off but I made sure 99% of the paint was gone.

Bummer though, got some paint chips already probably from some rocks. I'll fix them soon.

The first time I was in a rush and simply cleaned and painted the lower grill. Showed me to never be in a rush. When I painted the top I took my time, cleaned and this time used a primer. I went to an auto body supply house and they had the proper primer for plastic bumpers. I then used an auto paint for the red. These both came in spray cans so everything was easy. The hardest part about the painting was the cleaning making sure all of the crevices were done.

Actually, when I sprayed the top grill, I saw that the reds did not match so I stripped the paint. Got the proper stripper, again for plastic bumpers, and brushed off the old paint using a brass barbque brush. I also used a brass gril brush for the holes in the grill. Took about 5 hours to clean off the old paint.

I think the end result looks great and it sure is a head turner.

Looks really nice, but I think I would lose the pinstripes. They kinda detract from the otherwise clean look.

Thanks for the kudos. As for the stripes I could always take them off but I have always liked stripes on my cars. As for the clean look, unfortunately it is a bit late now .
