In an attempt to broaden our market, PSI TURBO PERFORMANCE is conducting research to determine the demand for a turbo kit for the Protégé/MP3/3rd Gen.. We are interested in developing a reliable, affordable, and competitive kit for the 2.0ltr. models. Our proven and perfected Subaru kits have been a hit with the Subaru aftermarket for the last 4 years and we are ready to expand and utilize our skills and services as experts in the field of turbocharging to unlock the true potential of the Protégé/MP3/3rd Gen. If you are serious about turbocharging your naturally aspirated Protégé/MP3/3rd Gen., please respond to this thread with the following info:

1) Are you ready to buy a kit the moment it is released, or would you be interested in buying a kit in a few months?
2) What are your expectations/numbers?

If there is enough interest in the turbo kit, we will need a test car. If you are willing to offer your car as the test car, here are the requirements that you must meet:


-You only have to purchase the parts needed to complete the kit at OUR COST.
-LABOR AND INSTALLATION IS FREE.
-Make the drive to PSI TURBO PERFORMANCE located in Debary, FL.
-Allow 2 weeks to a month for us to complete the install and proper tuning.


PLEASE only respond if you are interested in adding a turbo to your Protégé/MP3/3rd Gen. Please help keep this thread to the subject at hand. Thank You!

i would like to get in on this as well.

i would like to see a staged kit for sale much like Spool has and a total full on package like Hi Boost is tring to sell with a Hal Tech ecu bundled together with a frontmount.

a base kit that would put out 165 to 170 WHP

another one with some upgraded parts bringing the WHP to 170 178 ish

and then a 3rd with a frontmount and even more goodies. boosting it to over the 200 WHP

something that would be a direct bolt up would be perfect. no having to tweak tubing or wiring or anything.... just out with the old and in with the turbo.

ceramic coating and polished pieces are a nice plus, but at the very least a nice polished or anadized cover to keep everything looking nice is a must.

keep everything top notch in the parts and looks and the price starting off at 2200 or 2400 to undercut the Spool kit and you will get some attention Very quick.

i would be more then happy to drive from Maryland to drop my car off and come back to pick it up when its complete.

also another good idea is to look at the aftermarket parts people are using like the cams from cork sport and mazdaspeed. the JDM intake manifold and think about factoring these pieces into the kits or at least testing with and without them.
if the mazda community sees a company going out of its way to make sure thier product will work with what we are already doing and not just slapping a kit together you will creat very very loyal customers.

Definatetly interested here. If the would go for 2500 i would get it now anymore it would wait a couple of months. Street Legal Is also a factor for me.

I will be sure to answer each and every individual post during shop hours on Monday. By then I should have the projected cost for the kit( and hopefully a parts list ) along with some other expected numbers. For now we are trying to decide on which engine electronics to incorperate into the kit.

Just wiating for more feedback before I start giving out more information. We are totally serious about bringing to you a reliable and affordable 200+whp kit, but the demand must be there for this to happen.

IF you browse the forum along with the other forum (http://protege5.com or its affiliates) you will see that many people are already installing aftermarket turbo kits from other manufacturers. The demand is there for good kits. The more companies that make them, the more popular they will be! Let's do it!
