"As Seen On T.V." Items **HELP!!**

I was watching t.v. a few nights ago when I came upon a commercial for car products. The 2 items were:

Duralube Engine Treatment

AND

zMAX

Are these items just a waste of $$$ and time on my P5 or are they legit. Thanks for any help in advance.

Actually at school we did tests on duralube, prolong, slick 50, motor up and others. Surprisingly, some do greatly increase the amount of Herztian (contact) stresses that the motor oils can handle before breaking down. Most of them have this big ugly chain molecule in them that binds to the metal (kind of like graphite or molybdenum disulfide) and works as a solid lubricant. We were getting increases from 50ksi to >300ksi w/o breakdown.

BUT, the big chain thing contains chlorine and when exposed to water becomes a big nasty HCl molecule. That's no good. And there is almost always water in the oil, even if it in suspension.

Our prof and lab assistant's recommendation, use it right before you sell a car, it will help a bit, but never use it on a car you actually plan on keeping.

5) 1 Pot (everything can be cooked in a pot, from eggs to spaghetti)
