Picking up my Speed6 tomorrow
#16
Thanks. They are pretty rare, considering Mazda had six colors for '06 spilt among 5000 cars. That color is not offered on the '07s.
Getting rid of the gap is one of the mods I have planned. Part of the reason they went with that much space might be the AWD system, although I am not planning on doing any offroading. Waiting to see if one vendor will in fact develop springs, if not then I will suck it up and get the AutoEXE springs that are specific to the Speed6. Right now I am waiting on a shark fin color matched antenna, and clear front side markers. Just found out the place I bought from on eBay didn't have them, kept my money for a week and only refunded after I called them. So don't do business with CarPartsWholesale, they suck! Now I have to get a money order and get some from another vendor.

Oh yeah, my gf drove it for the first time today. Only killed it once (think she learned from my mistakes with the clutch). Loves the car. We're on the freeway and she asks me how fast she is going, I tell her 80 and she immediately says she'll be getting tickets while driving...just the way I feel! I told her just use the cruise all the time. Now I just have to teach her how to heel and toe.

You don't have to cruise down here if you don't want to . I like to drive on the weekends and see the land. I was thinking of heading up to louisville with the wife to show her some places I might consider living.
If you're looking for good bolt-on power don't forget to pick up the intake, catback exhaust (if emissions are in your area) and the new P&P ecu from P-garage...I'm all giddy waiting for mine to come in!

That would be cool. I don't know my way around Louisville (not even around here much since I am never around!) but might be able to meet up with you.
If finances allow I'll probably get the intake after Christmas. I understand it really lets you hear the turbo etc. What's this about the ECU? I read Ken was working on getting something from Xede, didn't know he was already selling one. I'll wait on that for a while, see who actually makes one (lots of people seem to be excited about the possibility of a CobbAccessport) and which has the best gains.

Yeah, Cobb was my number 1 choice but when I spoke with Ken about this new one they seem very similar. All I need in a tuner is the ability to remove the factory boost limiter and fuel adjustment.
The way the stock ecu works now is it restricts the amount of boost you see based on rpms.
originally the car could hit 20+psi @ 2000rpms. It would hold it until about 5500where it started to fall off fast. What the reflash did was remove all of the boost down low:
2000rpms = 3psi
2500rpms = 6psi
3000rpms = 9psi
3500rpms = 12psi
4000rpms+ = 17psi (15 really)
what you get is a big turbo lag feeling and you'll start to notice if you cruise at low speeds in say 3rd gear and lay into it that the car will almost sputter as the rpms climb because it's the wastegate allowing it to build more boost. I hate the feeling now.

Hey Matty, PM me where you got your MS CAI and for how much. I am thinking I need one (okay, I want one but let's not split hairs!). Still haven't remembered to check for a reflash tag yet, I suspect it was done as mine behaves as you say below about 3000 rpm (but no shuddering/stuttering). I'm not complaining though, the thing is very addictive as is.
