Mazda6 Long Tube Headers

Picture 1 - What was removed. In the 2006-refresh, Mazda has since redesigned the exhaust to be much simpler and lighter in weight.

Picture 2 - A beautiful thing.

Picture 3 & 4 - Installed

This install was on a bone stock Mazda6S 3.0L V6 MTX that was broken in softly. They also did one with their MAFci intake system (CAI and piggyback) and it dyno'ed well more than a 255 BHP Altima.

So what do equal-length, long tube headers sound like on a Ford modular V6? Mean.. angry. Like it wants to suck the souls out of all the cars around it. It's a very unique sound.

Yeah, those are really beautiful.
Did you pull those pics from an on-line mag or was it someone you know?

Oh, and speaking headers, buy one from me, lol.
Seriously. I need three more.

The Mazda6 is very similar to the older V6 SHO's. It's a mid-size FWD V6 with a ford duratec block and 5spd. For some reason though the SHO's are still real tough engines.

I'm in a total overhaul phase of this SHO right now. My christmas bonus came in so I've just spent 90% of it buying all new parts. I figure I'll put down about 220-230whp with just the bolt-ons and then I'll either go with the spray again or look at picking up a used vortech sc kit. Some of the vortech SHO's are making 380-400whp. Should be fun to pull up next to someone and ive them a little bov noise.

IIRC the engines for those early SHOs were sourced from Yamaha. Maybe that's why they are so stout. I always wanted one of those...

yup, ford duratec block with Yamaha internals heads and intake. I'm dumping a lot of money into mine so I'll post up some pics and details just as soon as I get the coating done and everything put back together. I'll go get some dyno pulls as well before and after my mods just to show you what kinda gains these things make.
