It has the J-spec cams, J-spec intake manifold (More flow) headers instead of a Cat up front, and Pistons with a better compression ratio (Engine is Tuned for Japans Gas though)

Its A better place to start Then the FS DE. BUT No chance they will budget it. If they replace, they will get the engine from Mazda directly, and they will only give you a FS DE, Not a FS ZE.

Would be cool if they did though, or let you pay the diference on the motor cost.

Well, I just got off the horn w/Mazda. Seems the Service manager spoke w/the warranty company today and gave them the quote for a new P5 engine (roughly 6k) And he said the guy at the warranty company didn't even flinch at that.
Problem:
Engine bearing on the 2nd cylinder - F**ked up.
So, with all my records and stuff, plus the fact I brought the car into Mazda & they showed it being in a mechanically sound position & I brought it back later that evening on the back of a tow truck....I shouldn't have a problem. The adjuster should be over at Mazda somewhere between 1pm-5pm tomorrow....to check things over and then hopefully sign off on it. I feel better now, but will feel even better if all goes well tomorrow. And of course, I'll keep you folks in the loop.
And damn it, I'm going to have Mazda do ALL my servicing on that new engine.

Don't forget to take all of your "stock plastic intake pieces" with you when you go for warranty work.... not that I'd know about that...

good luck with it phil but don't start kissing their *** until you're driving away with your new engine. Mazda doesn't have a good track record of doing right on warranty work.

p.s. a FS-ZE engine is a bad idea...way too many problems with it. It would be better to just add a blower or something.

That's funny--I kissed *** big time---after I signed the dealer bill that said N/C.
My dealer was really cool about everything, though.

See Mazda isn't paying for it (like I told you on AIM last night Matty)...it's my extended warranty Co. Mazda could care less...they'll tell 'em what ever to get paid...that's $6k profit for them...I'm only shelling out $75 (and maybe another $50 if the tow wasn't covered).

APPROVED!
*Thank God*
I'll have to pay for the tow ($30) & the deductible ($75)...so $105...not bad.
