Of course it will. It has 1 more liter of displacement. But instead of going into a debate of Japenese engineering vs US engineering, I would like to flame Mazda for leaving the FS-DE engine in such an undertuned stage as it is. If it's capable of 170hp, with some modifications in JDM, at least make it 145-150hp here. I wouldn't mind paying $1000 more for it. Even the Hyundai 2.0Ls and Aerio make more power per liter.

I guess I shouldn't rant, can't have the best of everything.

Wow, I never knew this would get out of hand this much. I like all your opnions and see where some of you are coming from. Yes, Dodge used to make good cars in the '70s, and perhaps earlier. But if you get a Dodge that is good today, you would have to be lucky. As for Porsche, I am only a fan, a BIG fan none the less. My brain simply would not accept the image of a Durango passing a Boxster, that is not right. Speaking of Viper, I only know of one Boxster that completely destroy it, and it comes from the wonderful people of TechArt! I watched on Speedvision its showcase, and this Boxster was BAAAAD!

Oh yeah, about the Dodge's being POS's...I own two 1974 Dodge auto's and one is still going strong, it's a Tradesman 100(Van) and my 1974 Dodge Dart fastback has not run for a while because I got lazy and didn't keep it up and let it set in the back yard for a few years, but I never had any problems with it when it was running.
I took pictures, but Linux doesn't like Digital Camera, so I am currently working through that problem

Net Seven, he was talking about a tuned Boxster...... nothing stock......

In any case, Mazda used to rule LeMans until they kicked them out because of using rotaries...... Porsche was the one that complained from what I read........

Why is nobody talking about 911s when comparing Vipers.......

I'd take a 911 over a Viper, and a Viper over a Boxster....

I am not debating here,but most people here cannot afford a boxter,or a 911,or a viper.
So if you compare the turbo neon with a stock boxter, you get a lot more bang for your buck. A LOT more. Given that the neon is almost as fast as the boxter, lets forget about the cars value, craftmanship and class. On a 1/4 mile track, the neon would be equal to the boxter.
I have a movie clip of the han racecraft neon beating a viper GTS,yes GTS on a quarter mile run.
So moneywise, you are better off with a neon.If you want prestige, get the boxter. If I had the money,I would get the boxter, any idiot would do so.

Porsche is a *****, all they do is complain about the rules and regulations of the races they particiapate in and make the council change the rules to benefit them. They kicked Mazda from using rotaries before because it creamed their asses all over, and now they are complaining in the American LeMans that the BMW M3 GTR's are too "fast" for them, and requested a change in the rules. Well its not their fault if the GT3 isn't as fast. So Porsche should smarten up and actually produce better cars.
Cheap and shiny plastic in a Boxter? Tiptronic in a 400bhp 911 Turbo?! And now a Porsche SUV?!
Wtf has gotten into Porsche?! Be like Ferrari and stay true to your roots!

First of all, the only reason Porsche complained about BMW M3 GTR, was because the BMW did no meet FIA requirements. Do you have any idea why the street legal GT3 was a limited production? So that the Porsche can sell enough of them for the homologation, thus GT3 can be used in racing. BMW M3 GTR is absolutely not homologaneous to the street legal M3. So when BMW got the news they quickly came up with a street legal version of M3 GTR which sold for more then $200K a piece. In order for BMW to continue competing, they needed to sell 2000 copies by the begginnig of this racing year, which would only happen if hell froze over. So, as you can see, BMW was fast, no doubt, only because BMW found a loop in regulations, and not only Porsche, but other manufacturers in that class would have done the same things. So don't call Porsche a *****, because Porsche's racing history is by far richer then BMW's.

About Porsche complaining to Mazda for using Wankel engine I have no opinion, because I have not researched into it, but if any one would like to share some opinions, that would be cool.

Here's a Dodge that can take the Boxter...

Cummins Turbo Ram in the 11's

But seriously, I have owned three Chrysler cars with no visit to the dealer for warranty service on any of them. An 88 Turbo Shadow I had in high school, an 93 Dakota with the 318 and now I have an 88 Shelby CSXT. I've also had a 1997 Mitsubishi Mirage that went in for repairs about 10 times for engine and transmission work. My new PR5 has the engine rattle problem we are all so fond of, rattle in the rear hatch that is driving me crazy and a flaky keyless entry system. All cars are going to have problems. If any of you work in manufacturing or have experience in QC then you know the difficulty of getting all those systems together. A realistic failure rate is in the 5% range for domestic products. Most new cars have around 135 defects per 100 vehicles. Some manufacturers have defect rates over 200 per 100 vehicles. If you consider that a product failure, that's 100%. ALL cars today are better than those 5 years ago and they will continue to improve. Comparing the Porsche to the Neon is crazy. They aren't designed to compete in quality, price or performance. And I have no clue what point I am trying to make.... Go Braves!!!

I think the reason I started this thread was becasue in a Dodge commercial it was a Durango that passed a Boxster not a Neon. I simply do not see these two brands to have any thing in common (besides the Viper and 911 Turbo or GT2). Also, I am too confused about the point you are making Go Red Sox!
