sorry guys...but I can't agree with you on this one....ALL dodges aren't crap.....before getting my Mazda's....I drove a dodge for 12 years....not the same one mind you...but I had a dodge .... and from the first one I baught in 89....till the last one I got in 99....I NEVER had a single problem with ANY of them. never went to a dealer to have a single warrantee item fixed....in fact none of them EVER went into a shop for anything. SO, maybe I was one of the lucky ones...but none the less...I can't support your "dodges are crap" opinions.

Talking Dude, You're Insane! :)

Dude! You're totally insane!!

No Dodge Neon will touch a Boxter S, okay? A Neon?! Dodge!??? That's totally crazy! Try a 250 HP engine, 225 lb. of torque at 4500 RPM, a 7200 RPM redline, 0-60mph in 5.7 seconds, all in a mid-engine frame design, rear wheel drive, and 145+ top speeds. No. A Neon can kiss Porsche's *** anytime, anywhere-- It doesn't matter if it has a turbo.

The Boxter is among the finest sports cars ever made, and there ain't no firkin' Dodge that's gonna come even close to it. Period. Not in quality. Not in ergonomics. Not in speed. Not in handling. Nothing.

And soon there'll be a Boxter R with a 3.6 litre engine that's even faster.

No offense, but I can't believe anyone out there is trying to talk about Dodge with Porsche.

Master....all I DO know about the new Neon that IS coming out....is that the only dodge that will be quicker from 0-60 is the viper.

Arrow You Could Be Right

I agree with the possibility (if not the outright reality) that a Viper might be faster off the line than a Boxter. Haven't seen the definitive specs in that regard yet. What I won't concede is the Viper's handling ability, comfort (as in, the way it fits the driver), and overall performance as being better. Consumer Reports rates the Boxter as one of the best sports cars they've ever driven. That's cool. They didn't say that about the Viper.

I still say Porsche builds among the finest sports cars in the world, and there's no Dodge out there that even comes close in overall package. If money was no object, if someone put a Dodge and a Porsche in front of me, I'd be laughing as I drive off in the Porsche. It's just not even close.

Also, regarding Dodge quality, there has been no Dodge in recent years that holds up nearly as well as, say, Toyota, overall. The only one that's done well is the PT Cruiser; and that's heinous (in my opinion), and it doesn't ride well, either. The data is readily available in Consumer Reports... Dodge just doesn't cut it-- Just like GM. There's no way I'd risk my hard earned money on one of them, even if there are some out there who got lucky (I'm glad for that, in any event! ).

Don't get me wrong here...I LOVE the boxster....there is a guy here where I work...I drool on it all the time! lol

the boxster was "formulated" to emulate the 550 spyder of the 50's you know...the car that James Dean killed himself in.....

the boxster is a sweet machine....and I too would take one of them over a dodge anyday...even the viper.

Exclamation Clarification!

Ah, indeed, the Viper sports better acceleration and top speed than a Boxter; even the S. But only by a little over 1 second. With that difference, I'd still go for a Porsche anyday over a Dodge. The Viper has to be heavy as hell to only be that much faster and have twice the HP. With equally skilled drivers, I'd bet a Boxter would kill a Viper on a course.

I would expect most professionals would go with Porsche as a true, pure bred sports car over a Dodge any day-- To be sure, as you said, especially the 911.

But you're right about a Viper being faster! That's not enough for me, though!

Porsche all the way. No Dodge.

Fun to dream about cars like this, in any event! That's about as close as I'll get!

I don't know the exact specs for all the high end cars, cause personally I don't give a crap but I am also not gonna say that all Dodge's are POS's, because they arent. If you wan't to talk about an all around POS, talk about FORD. The Neon is the only POS car produced by dodge, and I am surprised they are continuing production, hopefully with this new turbo model they up the quality on it, otherwise its just gonna be another POS neon. I personally would never buy a Viper or a Boxster, I prefer a modded Supra over any of those 2 and others. Just call me old fashioned, but I prefer Supra's and RX-7's.

On another note, The truck posted above, like the viper is not "practical" for an everyday driver, and more than likely won't sell too many. I mean, how many vipers do you see around? Porsche's, yea i see a lot of those..The market is coming to little economy cars, like Honda/acuras, nissans, mazda's etc..Monster v8's with Massive HP is practically absolete. The dodge viper is a great platform, but unless you got extra money laying, who in their right mind would buy it? You wonder why you see a crapload of modded imports running around, good gas mileage, cheap, and fun. The mustang GT sells pretty good because it gets somewhat decent gas mileage compared to other sports cars, and is slower than the Z28, SS, and T/A's. When you buy the Camaro or T/A you don't buy it to "drive" it around, unless your stupid and have a lot of money to fork over for gas. Econoboxes are slowly taking over..

Thumbs up I Agree!

My appreciation for Porsches doesn't really mean I'd practically buy one-- It's fun to think about, but I totally agree with Travis in that "econoboxes" are taking over. As they should be.

These days, with fuel prices continually going up and staying up, with supplies dwindling (as any finite fuel source eventually will), and with pollution being recognized for the real issue that it is, it makes total sense to buy the likes of Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Toyota-- For the most part, these are all responsible, excellent companies who produce exceptionally reliable, economical, and even fast (if you want them to be) cars.

Anyway, I seem to have strayed from the original nature of this thread! Sorry guys!

I think we all have strayed a little Another point i was gonna put across to back up what i said about only liking RX-7's and Supra's is the fact that I want a car that has been through the ups and downs of suspensions, motors, and can release a finely tuned car, Viper still lacks a lot of so called "experience" amongst the other sports cars, but it does do a damn good job for a somewhat new car.

Hey Travis,
Do you have any pictures of your 93 Accord? I used to own one myself before I traded it in on the MP3. I didn't have much done to it but I have a picture laying around somewhere.

Oh yeah, about the Dodge's being POS's...I own two 1974 Dodge auto's and one is still going strong, it's a Tradesman 100(Van) and my 1974 Dodge Dart fastback has not run for a while because I got lazy and didn't keep it up and let it set in the back yard for a few years, but I never had any problems with it when it was running.

Dodge is a great car. I know many people that own one including my dad, and they love them. No problems with them at all. You guys just look at porshe for their name, and you remind me of one of my friends who would take a BMW over a 323 GT-R. The GT-R is so much faster than the BMW he was talking about, he said he would get it just because of its name. Thats just how you guys are "get car for the name". You've all been taught to think that porshe is like the fastest car on earth, and there is no other like it. When you compare it to an auto maker like dodge that makes regular cars, you think oh look its a daily driver type car vs. a pure performance car, oh how funny. Not like all of dodge's cars are like that.

Not at all....Dodge made MANY a great car....many a performance car......the fastest thing I ever took a really high speed run in was a Dodge....a Charger as a matter of fact....a good frind of mine's dad was a detective in the sheriffs department....he had a unmarked Charger....with the police interceptor in it....that car was nothing but totally bad ***!!! okay so it didn't run the twisties like a euro sports car...back then...it didn't matter...where we live there isn't much in the way of twisties anyway....brute power was where it was at...and MANY a dodge certainly delivered it.

Anyone see alot of EEK Based Dodges around still? Yes? Wonder why. EEK cars are the FWD Minivans, K cars, Acclaims, Dynasty's, Shadow/duster last forever. My sisters 89 Dynasty 3.0 MMC V6 will beat a pro off the line anyday even with over 250,000km's without doing anything except regular maintance to it.
You really only seem to hear about all the bad problems, and never anything good about the newer dodges. Even though they are good cars but like the Big 3 these days build quality isn't up to high anymore.
