cold air intake question
#16
My fact on this whole subject is, cause i was wondering about the Aftermarket Fugita CAI, i asked my dealer, and they said they would still cover my m3 under warranty. So i'm thinking that it just depends on your dealer. I've had one warranty issue to be fixed on my car, which was a recall.
Not to mention, from what i've seen and researched on the Madza Speed CAI system compared to AEM, FUJITA, and an INJEN....well hands down they are better. All depends on what you are using your car for. So good luck to ya.

I can tell you how they are better...THEY'RE HALF THE F*CKIN PRICE of the Mazdaspeed. Seriously, Mazda must crazy charging as much as they do for things like the catback and the short shifter or even CAI. The CAI price+labor to install is ~$500.

I could think of so many things I could buy for that much money.

Haha, wow! They want that much for it? Insane!
For everyone who thinks they'll see huge gains with a CAI, I recommend looking into it a bit more. It's not going to be some crazy mod, it's just a helper; and sounds nice

seriously, with $500 you could go get an ecu reflash and get more power out of that.

what they dont tell you is that the warrenty is only voided on the intake. like everyone else said, if they cant relate any of your cars problems to what ever modifications you have done, then they must cover this.
i have first hand experience in this, because recently my engine blew, i did have an intake in it, but still the dealer covered the engine because they could see no way it would have been my fault.
just make sure that you do everything right when installing or that will kill you later on

You do have to be careful with overly cheap intakes however. If the intake breaks, or bends and sends a peice of metal flying into your intake mani, there is no way Mazda will cover the engine damage.

PROTIP!
Buy your Mazdaspeed parts ONLINE from authorized MS dealers.
You will save HUNDREDS and since they are official Mazdaspeed parts shipped to your door, a dealership must honor the parts and install them if you ask.
I bought all my Mazdaspeed parts off of sites and brought them in their boxes to my dealership and they charged me a light installation fee for everything.
Dealerships sell high at low volumn, but the internet sells high volumn and low cost.

You still pay more than the part is worth, even online. There are cheaper alternatives, even some right here on this forum from our vendors.
Also, you shouldn't need a dealer to install a cold air intake, but if you really want someone else to do it, I'm sure most shops could do it for 1/2 hour of labor.
Some shops have a minimum 1 hour billing, so just get a few other things done to fill out the hour
