cold air intake question
hi im looking to get a cold intake for my 07 mazda3
so i called the dealer today and they said getting the non mazdaspeed cold air intake would cancel my warrenty. is that possible? |
Yes. The dealer will try to get you to pay whenever they can. Some dealers are cooler about this sort of thing than others, however.
It's not global--obviously if you have suspension problems they can't really point to your intake as the cause. But you may have to prepare yourself with the facts and argue with them to get them to pay. |
From what I'm aware of, unless they can point the issue to the CAI as the cause, they have to cover it.
IE: Broken motor mount or alternator should still be covered, as it has nothing to do with the intake. |
Well, I know of 1 owner with the MS intake who hydrolocked, and his motor was toasted. Not covered under warranty, he had to buy a new engine. Insurance covered it. So the Green Warranty covers the metal tube and filter for a year, not any problems that might come as a result.
Sorry for bringing up a dead thread, I have not been back here in a while. |

^^^ Advice: not taken. :p
Sorry, but I don't buy that. Now, if your intake broke and fell apart into the engine, then of course, not covered. Now if your alternator fails, they had better replace it. Warranty is only void if they can prove your alteration caused the issue. By the way, too much caps, not enough grammar. Hard to take that advice seriously, I can't even tell if you're being sarcastic or not. |
Does anyone know the stats on the mazdaspeed intake for the 3??? Is it really that bad?
|
The only stat I know of is: Mazdaspeed Intake $250.00 +
Simota Twin Charger: $99.00 I just happen to sell one of the two. :) |

Haha, no, I sell the Simota...the one that does the same thing as the Mazdaspeed CAI but for less money...

Everyone knows that MS stickers add 5hp too, so, there's clearly an advantage for your $150.
:p |
I heard that any CAI for the mazda 3 will set the engine light off. Is that true?
|
Not sure on the CEL...when I had my MAZDASPEED CAI installed and got my extra 5hp and a sticker for another 150 they reprogrammed the computer to register more airflow. I heard AEM makes the CAI for Mazda and therefore the AEM CAI and the Mazdaspeed CAI are exactly the same but I'm not sure if it is true.

Reprogrammed? I would think, if anything, they would just reset the ecu (disconnect battery, pump brake petal a few times).
I would imagine the MAF would do the rest of the calculations on the spot as you drove. |
