Seat Belt indicator is not working correctly

Hello, I am new to this forum and actully new to the Mazda 3. Just bought a 2004 Mazda 3. The best car I have ever owned, hands down.

Yesterday though, my seat belt indicator went haywire. With the belt engaged the indicator lights up and beeps. With the belt disengaged the alarm and light come on. I can start the car with me being buckled and it comes on. Start it without buckeling it stays off and doesn't come on.

I have searched this forum and the only thing I have found is procedures on how to disable the alarm. I don't want that. I want the issue resolved to when I wear my belt, which is always, the indicator stays off.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

it may be something like the passenger junction box (PJB) being corroded. But there may be another legitimate issue - check your owners manual and see if there's another reason the light may flash. Like if the airbag is bad it may use the same light since I don't think there's a SRS warning light.
