A few questions for tall mazda 3 owners

Hey, my names Carl i recently turned 15 and am starting to look for cars I am a car enthusiest ever since my dad let me help change his spark plugs when i was 9 i was hooked =)

So i have researched a few main cars The Volkswagen GTI 1.8 turbo, and the Mazda 3my father recently decided to take me to the local car dealership (carry's VW and mazda convienent eh?) to look at and possibly test drive the two cars now unfortunately we only had time ot drive one so we chose the GTI.

now of course my dad was driving not me because i dont have my permit yet but from what i felt the car felt very secure, quick, and felt like it had very solid build quality which are all typical traits of VW's.

I've read reviews and my dad said the gti didnt handle great but pretty good, sloppy at times and some body roll but was ok.

I dont like this it seems to me as an enthusiest i would want to have a car that can hold the road very well.

So i'm looking at the 3 and it has a .87G lateral grip (very good IMO) and a 65.7 mph slalom also very impressive.

I like everything about the mazda I want to sit in it but i never got the chance.

So i'm wondering if anyone reading this is over 6 feet tall and how well do you fit I am 6'4 and done growing (physical problem) so i was just wondering how the guages look from your angle/hieght and how comfortable your legs feel I know in the gti i felt pretty comfy maybe a little snug but overall pretty well fit

thanks any help or info on the 3 that you think i should know before buying would be great tahnks alot

i am just under 6, though my brother is 6'2 i believe and he drives my car no problem, the front seat can go back a long ways, (no good for some one behind you, but plenty of room for the driver, and with a tilt and telescoping steering wheel you should be fine as far as view goes.... funny, i was torn between the two cars as well, and the dealership i went to only had the r32, i couldn't swing that so i took the mazda3 5 door and am loving the handling and am very happy with my choice...

I am just over 6 feet and have no problems. Make sure you get the model without the sunroof as it adds about 1" of headroom. I also don't have the seat back all the way. The telescoping and tilting steering wheel really helps. Overall it feels a lot like the volkswagons inside. Most of the Honda's I have sat in don't have quite enough headroom.

Hey,
I am tall for a girl, 5'8", and I have a M3. My boyfriend is 6'4" and drives it all the time. He loves to drive it for the reason that it has the telescopic stering wheel. He can go back as far as he wants, and move the wheel with him. You can also adjust the drivers seat high or low. He obviously drives all the way down and as far back. The only thing he does not like is that when you have it all the way back, the window buttons are further up and when you roll the windows down, he always rolls the back ones down. The gauges are so big that you can't help but notice them. I have the loaded M3 which can adjust the lights to darker orange or light blue. If you have the seat all the way back, there is still plenty of room in the backseat as well. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me! I hope I helped. I test drove the VW and it's just like the Toyota Matrix, there is no leg room in the drivers cockpit at all. Very short car and the reason I didnt get that is because of my height, and I am a girl!!!
