Here's what I know.

There's the "Protege5" in America.
The "Familia SP20" in Japan.
The "AstinaNU" in Australlia and some South Asian countries.
The "323" in some European countries.
And then theres more for South America and Africa I don't know of.

you can get the FAMILIA badge from corksport.com its a perfect swap for the Protege5 badge...even the little pegs on the back of the badge line up with the holes in the lid. a few people here have done the swap.

In Australia the Protege exists only in sedan form whereas the "hatchback" form is called the ASTINA.
The protege 5 is called ASTINA SP20.
I have posted some info on the engine forum and will be taking pics to post this weekend, so will take some shots of the car for you to see the differences between our and your model. Not sure where you can get the badges from without me prying one off a fellow SP20 car. But this would be sacriligious.
You may be in luck though as I'm waiting for a yellow SP20 to be written off (severely smashed beyond repair) so i can buy some spare parts to make custom eyelids etc... so will keep an eye out for a badge for you if you like.

In Vietnam and a few other countries, the Protege and P5 are sold as a Ford Laser. Different front fascia and no roof rack. In Africa the car is sold as the Mazda Etude, as the above post mentions. Also of note - in Africa the old style 323 and 323 wagons are still being sold, early 90s styling and all!

It's called the Allegro in South America. The forum member "JAC" has one.

Here in Latin America (El Salvador at least) the Protege is known as the "323 Artist"... there are two different models of the 323:

GLX: 1.6L fog lamps, A/C, CD player, power windows/mirrors, alloy wheels, etc.

LX: 1.6L no fog lamps, tape player, no power windows/mirrors

Both versions are available manual and automatic.

The LX also comes in a cheaper 1.3L version (with a pathetic 75hp). I donīt know why in the world anyone would ever buy something like that... unless they were a parent that wanted to make sure their son/daughter doesnīt modify the car to make it faster and get killed while driving it.

I own the GLX 1.6L manual. I love it... but I still wish I could have bought the 2.0L. They are not available here, so I would have to have spent mucho dinero to bring one from the States.

Later.

I made a mistake... I didnīt realize the thread was about the P5, and not the regular Protege... I was refering to Protege sedan, not the P5 in my earlier post. They donīt sell the P5 over here.
