Unhappy 16 year old with license for two weeks obliterates my back end

Ok, that may be stretching it but I'm bummed and pissed.

The facts:

Had license for only two weeks

Expired license plates

Truck (mazda b2500) is a stick which he doesn't know how to drive well

I live on a hill

Waited an hour for his father, then mother to arrive with insurance and still not sure if he was included.

Slammed into my 2007 Mazda 3 S Sport, hit clutch and not breaks, my car went 2-3 feet into a fence. Broke fence and damaged front and rear. I will be getting it looked at on monday morning after it gets towed to a body shop. I went to a rental car place and all they had left was a Mazda CX-7. From what I can see, front and rear bumpers, hood, trunk, and left side panel will need to be replaced.

IMO, either their insurance or the parents should pay you. You can take them to court if you have to. F that

Sorry about the car. I know how you feel tho, I had a guy back into my Speed3 in a parking lot and vanish before I could get to my car to catch him. At least you got insurance info! Haha. The insurance should pay for everything even if he wasn't a listed driver on the truck. I wrecked my friend's GMC Canyon a while back and his insurance still covered it even tho he wasn't even in the truck when it happened so I wouldn't sweat the insurance deal to bad.

I feel your pain. (No pun intended) Once in my fiance's car we were rear ended by a kid who was driving on a "learners permit" with no adult in the car....We called the police and and the cop cited the parent (when they arrived with insurance info. ) and the kid as well. He did about $5K worth of damage to her Honda.

**UPDATE**

I just got word from the body shop that they got the go ahead to order the parts needed for my car. They aren't going to total it. They said that after taking apart pieces of the car, the frame came out "virtually untouched." I guess thats good but I'm not sure if I would feel safe in the car. I might think about trading it in for a 2008 Mazda 3 Hatchback in the same color.

***UPDATE 2***

Just got a call saying that they should have my car done in about two weeks. Also, I got the itemized list of the parts being replaced. The total comes out to just under $12,000. Wouldn't have been cheaper to put that and what the value of my car was towards a new car? Damn!

When I get it back I will take pictures.

In the eyes of the insurer it seems that it is less expensive to get your car fixed back to the condition that it was in prior to your loss.

**Final Update**

I got my car back today, 5/30/08. It is so weird driving it now. I have been driving a CX-7 for a month now and the 3 feels like a go cart. Anyway, here are pictures.

Wow they did a nice job. Congrats on getting your ride back.

I can attest to the weird car driving feel. I feel that feeling when I go from my truck to my 3. Go car indeed.

**I lied, here's another update**

I was having issues with the tire pressure monitor. It went off and the tires were fine. I got my car on Friday and today (sunday 6/1/08) it is flat. Luckily right when I pulled into the parking lot at my work the tire flattened. I checked the tire and not puncture wounds. One of the people I work with said it might not have been sealed correctly when installed. The tire that went flat is the same one that was hit by the kid.

I'm going to call the body shop in the morning.

Very Nice

wow, they did a great job. You would never know anything happened.
Back before I got my Mazda 3, I had an 01 Dodge Durango that got rear-ended by a tree after we got it fixed it looked like it was year 2001 again.
