I can't say if the 6 is worthy of top 10. I didn't drive all the candidates.

Understand that when they pick the top 10, they consider performance and the "fun-to-drive" aspects of the vehicle, not whether they like Ford.

I have had as many Fords as Mazdas. The Fords are not in the same class. Again, it is my opinion. If I had lots of money I would buy a 6, a Speed, an RX-8, etc. But when you have an auto you don't like, it is hard to write that check to the finance company each month.

Let me apologize ahead of time in case my opinions offended anybody, considering the extreme contraversy of auto talk. It ranks right up there with abortion and the death penalty, I know.

Please note that on the Top 10 for Japan.

1. Honda Accord
2. Nissan 350Z
3. Mazda Atenza (6)
4. Mini
5. Mercedes E-klasse
6. VW Polo
7. Daihatsu Copen
8. Toyota Caldina
9. Opel Vectra
10. Range Rover

This give you an idea of the kind of quality which makes this list. If the 6[Atenza] was not viewed as wholy Japanese it certainly would not make this list.

Focus only on Mazdas and you won't know if Mazdas are maintaining their competitive edge.

Remember when the Jap sportscar market crashed in the 90s? Somebody missed the big picture. Sure they are back now, but the absence of these finer autos could have been avoided.

The success and failure of an auto company or a particular model depends on many factors. One being the consumers' satisfaction with the auto. Please fill out your new car surveys when you receive them. Is everybody narrow minded? Consumer feedback is key to the success of an auto. Wouldn't it be beneficial if I told Mazda that I didn't like the way they designed the hohum, but Honda took a different approach and I like it better. I didn't say adopt it, I just put it out for consideration just like when I said I drove the 6.

I am a Mazda enthusiast I have a 2001 Miata, 2001 MP3, and a 2002 LX. My Speed is on its way.

I have never owned a Honda and I may never. They are, without a doubt, quality autos that Mazda should attempt to surpass.

A Ford block only. And that is a far cry from a Ford engine.

As for Honda it is a fine vehicle. But for the 5-6 G's extra for the same options they can keep it. IMO.

If I knew any more than that I'd own one of the auto manu firms.

And I'm sure they've done their R & D on all factors involved. This being outspoken in their 9 digit incomes and more per year.

Cablemirc, it is clear now that you have trouble reading and you have difficulty dealing with your emotions.

FYI, nobody asked for reasons why I thought the 6 was under par for Mazda. I was immediately confronted with bullshit about my shorthand.

Just as I said earlier, we have accomplished nothing. We just argued about non-Protege issues.

Thanks for a good time, and I mean that.

Actually that's not true.

I've learned more in researching the 6 than I'd known before.

All is not lost.

That's very true. Something like the "MP5" idiocy that came around the time the Mazda MP3 was introduced. People seemed to overlook the point that the MP3 name was coming from the fact that it included an MP3 player and high wattage and quality audio system.

Anyways. That's true what you say I mean

it is NOT 2 names... it is ONE NAME.... MAZDASPEED...

almost no one in america knew what mazdaspeed was until it was introduced a few months ago... after that, the dumb press and the public called it Mazda SPEED. This is wrong. They make it sound like they are 2 different names or a subname of Mazda. Half the press called the turbo car "SPEED Protege". They make it sound like a different car... it is not.. what kind of crackhead will name a car "SPEED Protege" or "SPEED Miata"? Call it Mazdaspeed, it is a separate marque, just like AMG is.

Mazdaspeed WAS a separate company of Mazda. They were NOT related in anyway to Mazda other than the parts and the cars. Even though now it is owned by Mazda, everything is still the same as before.

It's time newbies to the Mazdaspeed name call it right. Calling it "SPEED" will just make a bad reputation of the Mazda name as a whole... don't ruin it for everyone

I don't think that will ruin for everybody. You guys abbreviate all the time. Terms are coined left and right. Don't sweat some damn detail about how to refer to the car. I will call it a Speed because that is what I want to call it. I am aware of the history of Mazdaspeed and Mazda and all that ****. But, hey, I'm gettin' a Mazdaspeed Protege and I am gonna call it a Speed. To each his own. I dare you to admit that you are on my case because you did not like my opinion and that is the only reason.

you won't.

Anyone that wants to really discuss about the Mazdaspeed Protege here has already done their basic research and/or read past posts about it that they won't make such silly mistakes.

now to rectify the 'MP5' situation, that's a can of worms I would rather just leave alone

Usually we, or people in general, will abbreviate to save time in typing. Otherwise the point in abbreviating is lost and will only serve to make what you type unclear.

That being said might I suggest "MSP" which is a common reference to the MazdaSpeed Protege.

Cablemirc, you have demonstrated again that you can't read. Check out all my threads. I never said the 6 sucks or anything of the like. I just said I would prefer all Japanese. And I will repeat:
nobody cared about facts, just my shorthand. If anyone was interested maybe the next thread should have been, why don't you like fords or does just a ford block really matter to you?

Cablemirc, you might try learning to read. It can be fun and educational.

Arrogant, maybe. But I can read.

BTW, I have a 10 year old son who has down syndrome.
I won't use the term "Jap" anymore.
