4th Gen Protege (3) 2.3L

Anyone have any info on the new 2.3L that is going in the Mazda 6i, 3rd gen Miata, and 4th gen Protege (3)? Any online articles?

is there a posibility that an engine swap can be preformed, changing the current 2.0L engines with the new one?

so Canada may keep the Protege name...

boy wouldn't that make marketing in NA interesting

and watch US Mazda3 owners swap for Canadian Protege badges and vice versa.

I can just see it now, eBay selling swappable Protege/Mazda3 badges

Think the V6 can be put into the 3? It looks pretty snug in the 6 actually, but that's with that plastic cover thing on I didn't get too clear a look.

I'm pretty certain the 3's will still be built in the Hiroshima plant in Japan.

yup, it'll still be a 'true' import compact

Yeah, the Tribute and Escape are not built at the Flat Rock plant. Now that the Cougar is dead, the 6 is the only vehicle built there.

No more cougar?? Sigh...

My friend has a 67 XR-7. Real fun Only problem is...the rear lights don't work... and it kinda leaks exhaust into the cabin... so when you take a ride you take a RIDE!!

To the person that made a reply about a v6 protege. Excuse me 3rd generation protege, you can fit the 2.5l v6 into it. It will cost to much and besides you can make the fs have more horses for less then an engine swap.

Mazda usa has a V6 protege. I also talked to mike who works there in the design department in California. Fo fun they are trying to fit the rotary motor into a Protege 5. They have a jap spec Familia AWD which should work for a RWD car. Just a small scoop I've heard
