Which turbo is better
I know of two aftermarket turbos for the Protege but which one is better? The begi kit wich will get you 167.5 hp and 191.5 ft/lbs torque at 6 psi, and the tripoint engineering which will get you 200+ hp and 413 t/lbs torqueat 8 psi.Even if the begi is set up to 8 psi I don't see it reaching those stats. But how true are the tripoint torque stats. Anyway it seems that tripoint outperforms the begi but which is the bettr kit.

Tripoint web site advises 166 hp to the wheels. The BEGI numbers are 168 hp to the wheels with less boost. 413 is not an accurate pounds per square inch representation. More than likely metric

This issue has been covered several times. Do a search.
The dyno Tripoint uses is not a Dynojet Chassis Dyno. So the numbers might be what they got, it just isn't measured the same way as a Dynojet.
However, there is something to think about with the Tripoint kit. I know of only one sold, the one pictured on the website. On top of that, I have heard that Aerodyne is having business trouble. As well all should know, Aerodyne makes the turbos Tripoint is using. No turbo, no kit.
On top of that, I don't know what all testing Tripoint has done.
The BEGI, or FM turbo is being developed as we speak, there have been ten pre-production kits sold already and the outlook for this kit is better, IMHO, than the Tripoint set-up. So far, I would go with the FM turbo because of the development behind it.
Tripoint is a great company, I just haven't seen anything about their turbo other than what is on the site. Flyin' Miata has actively posted on this board and others concerning the development process of their turbo kit.
