yes. it will work fine. Will lose a bit of top end on high boost.

This is still relatively low boost. You should be fine.

ok the turbo is no longer mine. the auction was cancelled. so, where can i get a decently priced turbo that will spool up around 25== - 32==? I would prefer to spend under 200. also what kind of turbo should i keep my eyes out for, i plan on getting a 14b or a T3 but if there are any others please let me know, also list nice performing a/rs

The 14b and T3 are totally different... so you're kinda spreading your range of choices. First, the 14b is a Mitsubishi turbo which has different bolt patterns on the exhaust side towards the exhaust manifold. The T3 is Garrett which has a rectangular opening and bolt pattern.

The 14b's you'll find off of 1G DSMs are fine for fast spool ... but they will tend to drop effeciency real quick. What car is this turbo going on?

If you have a 6cyl or a really big 4cyl, I would suggest a T3 with atleast a .63 A/R exhaust housing with a Stage II turbine or larger. The compressor should be a 60 or a Super 60 (which utilizes a larger compressor wheel and slightly larger housing).

Find out exactly what you want:

1.) high hp but slow spool or low hp but quick spool
2.) oil cooled or oil and water cooled
3.) turbo is for large motor or small motor
4.) turbo is for manual or automatic car
5.) high band power or low band power

Figure out some of these things.. then it'll be easier to help.

1.) for now i am limited to 7-9 psi so i assume quick spool
2.) oil cooled
3.) dunno 2.0 1990 cc, the FS
4) manual
5.) i would like power from 3500-7000 so i guess that is high end

i wanted a 14b for its fast spool up and its ability to creat all the boost i need(for now) till the rev limiter, the problem is with the 14b is the wastegate is set at 11-12 psi. which is more than the engine can take. another choice is a t-25 it is slightly smaller than the 14b but the internal waste gate is set at 7ish psi. for now i think i will stay away from the t3's just because they are bigger which allows for bigger boost but i wont be using that boost, so i will have a great amount of lag for no reason. once the engine is built i will convert to a t3/t04 series turbo. the problem with the t series turbos is that most are water cooled and i havent reaserched how to run the water supply and drain so i dunno

Yes the 14b is a quick spooling turbo... but what you need to understand about smaller turbos is that they become inefficient real fast... as in they start pushing hot air into your engine... which is not what you want. For your desired power band, a T3 would definitely be good.. but it'll get you to spool up around 2700rpms.. which is also nice. If you plan on higher rpms, the T3 would need to be replaced with something larger like the T4/T3 hybrid you mentioned.

I have two T3 60's here if you're interested. Now, one is in great shape and the other definitely needs a rebuild. One has a .63 A/R and other has .48 A/R (you can swap the housings). I am willing to sell both.. only both. You'll need to get an actuator if youi're planning on having it internally gated. PM me if you're interested.
