Nice man...

To go further on the Long Block, Short block thing...

A long Block (some guys call them "crate" engines) is usually the engine block and all internal parts, oil pump, head, injectors, fuel rail, intake manifold, and sometimes exhaust manifold. When you got your FS-ZE it was most likely a long block. A short block is just the block and internal parts. You would of had to install the oil pump, oil pickup and pan, head and everything else mentioned above. When a dealership or shop orders a new engine it is usually short. It is lighter and smaller, therefore easier to ship, plus they get to charge more labor, which goes into their pockets

I just talked to the shop yesterday, and they say my car probably won’t be ready until next week. A whole f*ckin month they had my car!
This will keep me from bringing my car to the thing at the NASA Space center for the Mazdaspeed! My block is there, but they say they have to honor others' rides who where brought in while my car was just sitting there waiting on parts. They are now waiting on some main bearings. I guess they figured if everything else is gonna be pracitically new, why not those! I trust them, and they do a good job, but they sure teach you patience! This phuckin sucks!!! They say I could pay them for what they have done, and send it to somewhere else.

Well, it is 10 days later, and I have my car back, and damn I will be broke till the end of the year! It is just like it is new. Total price for all repairs:

A whopping $4500!

I am debating whether to even put the turbo on, or sell the whole kit.

Not really. The block alone would have been over $1000. All, in all, if I would have gotten a brand new engine, it would have cost me close to $7000 total. With a used one, it would have cost me more, cause I would have had them check it. Thats $1500-$2500 for a used engine, and atleast $1500 to have them open it up and look around. So all in all, this **** was an expensive lesson that you never know what you get when you get it used. Thank you Corksport!

Now I am just breaking in the engine, and hunting for a gauge cluster. I hope to find one at a junkyard form a 2001 + Es or P5.

I WILL be going ahead with the turbo installation (hopefully this weekend), and have upgraded my bypass valve to a Flyin Miata Aluminum one, and just got it. It is bigger, and heavier (adds a whole 2lbs), but is SHAWEEETER!:

Well, last night I had a big *** headache, but it's gone, and I started my Turbo Install this morning! I already have the manifold and CAT off, and am working on the oil pan. I need help right now, but no one is available. I need to go to the hardware store/Autozone, and I am stuck! And without Transprotation!

I just thought I would update this thread. I finally finished installing it on Wednesday, about 20 minutes before I had to leave for work. I am one with the DARKSIDE now. That's right, BOOST! It pulls, and pulls hard!
