ok i have seen many unconventional cars take shots of nitrous...i know a guy with a geo metro(3 banger) who dynoed at 49 hp to the wheels...and he sprays a 50 shot all the time...and his car runs fine...now my question is how big of a shot can i spray without fearing detonation??? i was thinking a 50 shot or so...would that be bad or good???

sorry i forgot there was a forced induction/nitrous forum...and yeah i think a 50 shot should be good for it...well not good but it should be able to take it well...but would it work best wet or dry??? im kinda new in a way with the whole nitrous setup etc...so any help would be great...

i have run a 50 shot for almost a month now and decided that every car in the world should come with n20. its great.
to answer your question, it is my understanding that a 50 shot runs good for the pros,(2.0) but a few here have pulled off75 shots on stock. i woulkd think that your main concern would be to make sure your fuel system an supply the extra fuel... you need to upgrade if you get into really high shots... i have the nitrous express kit, and it was rteally easy to put in. only thing, i had to replace my fuel line to the fuel rail with a rubber line b/c it wouldnt seal. and go wet all the way, safer imo, and usually puts out more acuurate hp ratings.

so basically a 50 dry shot should work well with the car then i guess...im not sure if i wanna do wet or dry though...and i have an automatic...anything else i need to worry about??? i was thinking of getting the car dyno tuned and a custom chip burned for my car...ive heard of stock cars gaining decent amounts of hp due to getting a custom chip burned from a dyno tune...

There is no immediate problem with running a 55 shot on the auto tranny as I have run several bottles N20 through mine.

i have an auto also and have had no probs, about the kits, ive "heard" horror stoires bout the zex kits -solinoids sticking etc etc but no real evidence. if you do go with n20, be sure to change your plugs with 1-2 heat ranges colder than stock. if you have an older car 2-3 yrs or so, get your tranny fluid changed and keep an eye on it to make sure it will disperse heat right. dont want that to get to hot. ummm dont spray under 3,000 rpm unless you get a progressive controller. as far as the new burnt chip- watch out for any advanced timeing- which can cause detonation if not retarded... known a few mp3's bite the dust this way... i think linuxninga had this happen...blew a hole in a piston i believe, but someone correct me if im wrong... anyway just my 2 cents

I ran the ZEX kit. no problems there, took it out and put a turbo on. So, I'm not using it right now.

DONT run a dry shot, dry shots are for n00bs

fact: you will make more power and torque off of a wet shot, and it is safer for your engine.

Wet shot means that your system requires you to splice into your fuel line, so when you spray nitrous you spray fuel along with it into your intake.

Dry Shot means your just running nitrous alone through your intake, yeah its good for a 50 shot or something small like that, but i wouldnt run it or jet up without any fuel upgrades. Its easier to run lean and blow up your motor on a dry shot.

I've been running a 75 shot, wet, for about 2-3 Months now, previous to that i ran a 50 shot for a month, 75 shot feels great and i havent had any malfunctions at all while using nitrous.

I'm still using my stock clutch too, no slipping yet.

cool cool man...i didnt know you posted here too...i am gonna go with a wet kit...i found solenoids and a main line for $125ish maybe less...then id just need the bottle and 2 lines i believe...i dont have $500 to just shell out at the moment so i might buy the stuff in stages as i find it...dunno tho...i think my motor can prolly only take a 50 shot without overdoing it...i guess i will find out for sure though...

50 shot is the best you can go on a 2.0 and 10 psi is the highest boost you can go on a PURE stock 2.0. Its recommended that you use wet also instead of dry on this motor. If you use a 50 shot you wont have to change injectors or pump. but after 10K miles you need to have them cleaned if you are running NOS. If you want a bigger boost use a throttle sensor instead of a rev match, because are cars are high rpm lower tourqe. GOOD LUCK! Post some pics and stuff if you can when you get it done.

some people have timing retard probs when running a 75 shot. I dont know really. Would love if anyone is running a 75 shot to put in thier 2 cents.

car's still running stong, never had any nitrous related problems, still on the stock clutch too, no slipping as of yet
