Yeah it kind of sucks having a full engine management system that cost me an arm, a leg,... and another arm, and I don't exactly know what I need to do to tune it correctly. Not having access to a dyno also makes it more difficult to know how to tune it correctly. I've pretty much read through the Haltech manual... but I still don't know the best way to tune it. The basic reason why I had so much damage to my pistons was the hot *** air from the turbo. I barely won my motor off of ebay today... so I'll get that in there and get my stuff together.

Of course it didn't help, but a lot of novices think that intercoolers are like the most important thing in the world. You can get by without one, or a very small one if you know the other limits of your system. We have a few locals with home-built turbo kits running non-intercooled, usually ~6 lbs. A good friend of mine with a S14 240SX just put down 205rwhp on his non-intercooled setup. A/Fs look good, as does EGT. For his setup right now, there is ZERO need for an intercooler.
yeah low boost with proper tuning will more than likely be no problem non intercooled, but he was running nearly 9 pounds of boost, no intercooler, poorley tuned, and said he raced the car a fair bit i assume. even if he just had an EGT gauge to moniter the heat, maybe that would have saved his engine. but who knows. i'd like to see that 240 sx that sounds sweet. is he planning to up the boost, and intercool it?

Yeah me and my dad. We tried doing it without the Braden's manual and couldn't figure crap out. But once we got it, it became easier.

He autocrosses the car quite a bit, but never done a track day.
How does your friend like the J30 vlsd? I should be getting mine in a week or so.

SR owns KA-T. hahaha....j/k

I met a guy this weekend with an SR20DET with no intercooler. For some reason he didn't get the stock side mount. From his compressor housing to his intake manifold, he made a pipe with PVC and rubber adapters. It was hard not to laugh.

It's better than nothing, but it's still a crappy vlsd.

And I don't really like the SR20. I'm a fan of the RB series
what's not to like about the SR? 400whp+ on stock block and head gasket? RB is a stout engine too. There's a handfull of 240's in the US with an RB swap.
