Embarking on a Turbo SOHC 94 Protoge

We'll people, the time has come to say good bye to my old *** N/A engine. I found just the people i was looking for and i asked about a turbo manifold and they said it would be not problem. 700 gives me a custom turbo fitted for a t3/t4. as soon as all of it is complete, i will take pictures and post. i dunno when it will be finished but it will be soon. its only going to cost me about 1200 to get it done completely. I already have a t3 turbo. just need to get the little things, i.e. guages, intercooler. etc. Ebay has all that. if anyone else is intrested. let me know and i will tell them that some more people want it done too. all you have to to is get an old exhaust manifold and take it to them and they will create one for me. pretty soon, i'll be able to smoke even more honda's, much quicker :-D.

That's good that someone else is going to get a turbo manifold. I gave up on making mine, got sidetracked by the RX-7.

Is the T3 better than the VJ-20?

good god man! the t3 is infinitely better than the vj20

you can spit more air into your engine than these ihi things can flow.

a big t3 is almost a perfect match for our cars - slightly more drivable too i reckon cos the boost comes on a little later which makes it better in the wet.

i like the idea of a t3/04 hybrid (i got my fingers crossed for your drivetrain lillayzie2000), that would be the **** but they are a bit costly for me right now and as with any non-stock turbo - you better have good fuel management

sorry to hear about your car Robert. better luck next time? its only 3 pistons eh?

yeah that wasn't a good idea to run with no intercooler. does that mean your done with the turbo, or are you going to rebuild it and do it the right way? also what psi were you runnin??

I had my boost controller turned all the way down... I heard the stock boost is 8.5 so I think that's what I was running. I just bid on a BP motor and the auction ends today, so hopefully I'll be getting that soon. I'm going to keep the turbo... that is if the turbo is still okay, I haven't gotten a chance to take it apart yet. Then I'm going to totally rebuild the other motor and put a better head on it, cams, pistons, rods, the whole deal. Also... I'm going to definitely find an intercooler before I put the Protege back on the road... any suggestions on a type of IC?

Go to a boneyard and look for a NPR intercooler or a starion. those are good bang for the buck

i mean you can find an *** load on intercoolers on ebay, thats where i got mine, and its a sweet setup. it all depends on the type of room you have upfront to put one. i have limited room so mine is 2 inches thick. you just gotta look around man.http://search.ebay.com/search/search...nt+intercooler

Sorry to flame u i just thought it was odd to spend almost 2000 dollars and not buy a intercooler for 300. I guess u can't drive it without a intercooler on stock boost since he melted 3 pistons doing it ...
