it would depend on the turbo , if I am not mistaken...
Some turbo's come with and w/o the internal wastegate.
I think I would like to have the internal wastegate and add on the external (if needed) later..

External so its louder and everybody can hear you from a very far distance.

The GTX turbo comes with the internal wastegate. I throw on a turboXS blowoff valve and that sucker is too loud for my taste. Sounds nice tho. Its all in the blowoff valve. =)

IE: I was driving east on the 2 lane per direction street. Shifted gears. Drove by passed an Eclipse. Stopped at a grocery store He turned around and ask to see what was under my hood. told me that he had his windows up and stereo blaring and could still hear my turbo.

mmmm, wrc sounds. if i could afford the kind of blow of valve that they use in the wrc, then i'd go atmospheric but at this stage i'm staying with recirulating.

the police here have been having a bit of a crackdown over the last few months with (mainly) noisy exhausts (thankyou honda drivers!) but anything that disturbs the peace in the middle of the night can get your car impounded for 28 days at the officer's discretion!!

as far as an external wastegate - if you've got a lead foot - all you're gonna hear is that damn wastegate venting - all the time - and its not a nice chirpy sound like a blow off valve. at least plumb it back into the exhaust if you do but unless you're looking for high psi and serious track use, i don't see any practial gains to be had for the money.....

1.5 liters is quite small for such a big turbo. im not sure u have enough litres to turn that bad boy over like it should. you should prolly use a shot of nos just to get it spinning if you do go with a t3 on that tiny engine.

i reccomend he gets a shot of nitrous to get it spooling quicker.

ohh ,, sorry, I didn't understand what you meant.

Yes that would make sense. but I still think I would rather a T25 ball bearing turbo on a 1.5L but I am not sure of the air ratios

turbo compressor maps

some turbo compressor maps would really help to figure what turbo best suites the 1.5L engine.
wish i had time to look or get some info from companies that make turbos.

a good rule of thumb is: high boost=external. Low=internal

exactly!

high boost needs a bigger hole to bleed from else you get boost spiking.

don't forget about a boost controller tho' - you could run high boost with an internal wastegate set at 9 or 10 psi with one of those. you can have one setting for the road and one for the track.

but thats a lot of extra money - if you want to keep it simple, do as nicksprotege says.........
